Trigger Spring Issue

Recommended Posts

I finally got to shoot my conversion. I got a mag and a half out when it stopped firing. So, I did what any soldier would do. Took the cover off and watched it. The trigger was not returning. Because the spring slipped off the trigger arm. I put it back. Then shot some more. Slipped off again. Then a third time.

Gun runs great except for this issue. I also have another AK74 (Atlantic) that worked like a charm. But, anyway. I am not sure what is causing it to slip. It is all slopped up and soaking. I was planning on taking a better look once I clean it. Any idea how I screwed the pooch?

Sounds like you need to bend it some. Check 6 min mark.

I finally got to it. Yea, it has 4 loops already. Looking at it. The end doesn't seem to have enough bend in it. The extra tweak shown in the vid looks like the ticket. Thank you.

I tell you what. I have always had AR's. What I trained on and so. That was what I choose to buy. Since I like the AK platform and have had just a few 47's. These 74's are winning me over. You have no issue with function. It is a tough gun that if need be. Take abuse and still rock on. The 74 recoil is just under what my 16 inch M4. Stays on target and the ammo is still cheaper than any 5.56 you can find.

My next project is gonna simply put a cheap scope on one and see what it can hold group wise. Not expecting nothing special. Just hold a good group. The thought did cross my mind to sell off my AR's and go balls out on these.

Glad to help...bet it does the trick too.

The bolt hold open does mess with the spring often. It's a common thing that is easily solved with a slight bend. Took them out of my rifles, so never had that issue.

Selling is a personal choice based on many reasons. My attitude is acquire more never sell.

Enjoy your 5.45. They are fun and cheap to run.

Yep, that is my attitude as well. I did the bend job. Looks like it should work. But, I won't trust it until I test it. Plenty of other rifles for defensive needs.

I can still find tins of 1080 for $220 around here. I just changed jobs. Once I get set again. I will pick up some more. Then, I won't feel bad about shooting knowing I have plenty of ammo.

I had given my youngest son a AK47 for his graduation present. He wants to make the switch to 5.45 as well. I just chuckle. No denying he is my son.
