Cryogaijin 33
About half way through my last range trip with my S.308 the trigger stopped resetting after each shot. The spent case ejects fine (slight ding on the shoulder, gets launched a good distance, mild shaving of the rim by the extractor) the next round loads fine, but the trigger is LOCKED with the chamber loaded. Manually cycling the bolt resets the trigger, but I have to do it after every round. Between that range trip and this one I did a full clean and lube on the gun. Exact same issue today at the range. I'm at a loss as to what could be causing it. Thoughts?
haugpatr 972
Is the hammer spring "walking" off the trigger legs? Edited July 13, 2013 by HOG76
S5snake 41
Is the hammer spring "walking" of the trigger legs? That would be my guess.
Cryogaijin 33
If it is, why would boltcycling fix it?
haugpatr 972
When you cycle the bolt all that stuff moves, I would suggest firing the gun, checking to see if the spring walked and if it did, then you can fix the problem.
mscottrogers 56
its sounds like its not cycling far enough back. Do you have a buffer in behind the recoil spring and bolt? have you checked your ports to see if its clogged with carbon?
poolingmyignorance 2,191
Cycling by hand doesn't have the same effect as when the rifle cycles it's self. We either push up or pull down as we cycle, we either go too far or not as far.. all these things can cause slight variations in the mechanics of the rifle. Is this gun converted? If so which FCG did you use, you'll notice the factory disconnector spring is far stronger and larger than those in the other rifles and in general all AKM's. I'd suggest making sure your components are assembled correctly.
Cryogaijin 33
Fired over a thousand rounds before I ran into this problem. It is converted, using a Dinzag FCG. No buffer.
poolingmyignorance 2,191
What about ammo? Did you switch a new brand? Also check you trigger legs be sure they are moving freely, and inspect your main spring for damage.
Cryogaijin 33
No damage to the main spring. Will need to take a mallet to my scope mount to get the dust cover off to check the trigger, though.
Cryogaijin 33
Yup, spring walked off the trigger indeed. Fixed, though the spring looks like it won't want to stay on in the future. May have to shape it a bit, or else get a replacement. Range trip tomorrow.
Cryogaijin 33
I've put about 500 rounds through it since resetting the spring. No problems of any kind. Yall are awesome.
