Ravan 17
So I after being side tracked over and over by other projects, I finished my conversion. I replaced the front sight and gasblock with a Bolton FSB gas block combo. Shorten the barrel to 12.75 inches. Used a 14/1 lh dye to hand thread the barrel and recrowned. Installed a Venom Tactical Wolverine flash hider. Final length 16.5 inches blind pinned and welded (on the flash hider I used Birchwood Casey brown but didn’t boil it blue) Sandblasted the barrel and receiver and used Laurel Mountain rust brown on the barrel and receiver. Then boiled it to blue it instead of going for the rust brown. I really liked how the Laurel mountain rust brown solution went on and worked. I used Birchwood Casey plumb brown for the dust cover. You can see the difference in the photos. Also used the Birchwood Casey on a knife I made. Will post a picture of that too. PSL handguard modified to fit, also the Bolton gas block FSB was taped for mounting of handguard. Handguard was rite dyed with a mix of brown and red. I have an idea for a better mount set up involving a normal ak handguard retainer bracket. Need to find one on the cheap. Bonesteel/CNC warrior stock, My father-In-law wants it for the saiga 12 I gave him. Of course that is a TAKD bastard installed. parts Bonesteel Stock (did I say that its awesome?) Bolton FSB/Gasblock PSL handguard Pmag pistol grip TAKD B.A.S.T.A.R.D. (god bless Texas) Texas triggers ak FCG modded for use. Venom Tactical, Wolverine flash hider, and Bolton FSB/gasblock I had a lot of fun in this build, I learned a lot, pissed the wife off a bunch too, learned that the kitchen stove is not my work space. Had to buy my own pots and pans for Parkerizing and rust blueing. Rite dye does clean off of counter tops with the right amount of comet and bleach. And so much more that pisses the wife off. ok pictures now ( I personally like a used and abused look and thats what I worked for) rust spots shall be dipped in boiling distilled water and converted to gun blue. shot of how I attached the handguard, I have a better idea that will work now involving mods to an origian retainer. and a weld/blind pin picture just incase bonus picture of side projects.... I am seriously going to start looking in to a couple of the bulgarian parts kits now.

Personally, I think he should go more your rout, and treat this as a work in progress, more than a finished result. I've already made a recommendation for a charging handle mod, and its not the same as mine. It certainly is a refreshing build.
