Since this SAM7R was new, the 1st round has always had to be pushed back in after being pulled back. I keep it clean and use Breakfree CLP. Every other AK I have ever owned chambers easily, but I can't for the life of me figure out whats causing it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by "pushed back in after being pulled back"? I don't understand what you're describing.

Ditto. Seems if you want something "pushed in" and then you "pull it out" you would need to Push it back in....WTF are you talking about???

Chamber a new round then clear the chamber and inspect the round. Scratches should indicate the area of hangups.

Think he is saying the carrier hangs up when charging the first round.

Are you being nice to the carrier, or are you letting it fly forward like it's supposed to?

I had a Chinese 5 rounder that would do that on my Saiga. Try downloading the mag a couple of rounds. If it clears up, it's the mag spring is tired. I replaced the spring, and it cleared up. Worth a shot

lol, guess I had that coming, after reading what I posted, I guess it sort of sounded like I was directing porn about getting loaded & erectile dysfunction.

Thankfully now I realize that my carrier hangs up when charging the first round, is a much more accurate way to describe my situation. I already see several helpful suggestions to help solve the hang up and will update once I get a chance to apply them, thanks again.

I did notice that when my Circle10 40round was maxed, it hung up the worst... so loading 39 helped a bit. After chambering several rounds and ejecting them, I saw minor scuffs on the cartridges, but nothing abnormal. I took several pics of my hammer and carrier/bolt, give or take 1000 rounds has given em some wear, but I'm not sure how normal this amount is? I know this is likely a rookie inquiry, but if any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. With your help & knowledge, SAM has come along way. post-47153-0-34831600-1375064119_thumb.jpgpost-47153-0-23695500-1375064125_thumb.jpgpost-47153-0-89293400-1375064147_thumb.jpgpost-47153-0-22720000-1375064191_thumb.jpg

Pics look fine.

Are you letting the carrier fly forward under its full spring pressure, or are you pushing it forward by hand?

Letting it fly when it wants to, pushing when it doesn't quite make it. I am being less gentle with it since I read your post, it helps too. Do you see the indentions in my hammer, what would you do with if yours looked this way?

It's clearly fucked beyond repair. Send me a PM, and I'll get you my FFL info so you can send it in for safe disposal.

hell, I have a couple, forward that FFL over and I will fedex ya one tomorrow, no problem... which one you want? ;) Let me know if you need ammo too...bad_smile.gif

Polish it smooth.

Thanks, but using what, a dremil with stainless steel high luste poiish on a buffer wheel? 1600 sandpaper to de-burr maybe? mindful to polish and not remove?

actually now that I look at it again, there are some parts of the hammer that look a little chunked. however this wouldn't cause a problem ONLY on the first round.

might be easier to see if it's fucked up by removing the hammer and taking a better lit picture, but I doubt that's the problem.

I have a Bulgarian hammer in my Saiga and it has worn to a very smooth polish all on its own.. but that is over the course of a couple thousand rounds. not sure how many yours has.

Well, you could always remove the FCG and see if it still hangs up on anything. At least rule it out if it's isn't the problem.

That said, it's probably something in the FCG.

Should be able to drop any AK-47 or AKM carrier with a full-length piston right into it.

I'm running a carrier for a milled gun in a stamped gun, and have done the opposite, without any issues.

Looking at photos, lot of catching/snagging going on in that action. Picked up a used rifle that had issue you mention, carrier/bolt catching and pulling 1st few rounds back. When polishing take time and not too much off the hammer area that actually strikes firing pin. Wrong angle or too much and hammer wont (Slam) firing pin correctly, and then no bang. Looks like hammer just be smoothed. Polish bottom of carrier. Reason I love this sight is passing on of others mishaps. The one described is one I did. Solved one problem, created another after couple hundred rounds. Hammer wouldn't engage firing pin. Replaced hammer in trigger group, light polish, all is fine now.
