protective mount for BFF3?

Recommended Posts

The problem I see is that the Burris version of the mount does not look like it allows access to the on/off button on the FF3. I have not been able to find one for the FF3 on their site. On their site it says 'for all typs of FF' in the description, but to me it seems it would need the access hole in a different location for the FF3.

Sorry, OK I do own the FF3 with the basic picitiny baseplate. I am wanting the protective mount but it does not look like the ones I am seeing would work. I believe the one you are talking about is the one with riser for an AR. I will post a pic of what I am wanting.

.

See how the opening will not accommodate the button on the FF3.

KING,

YES, THAT'S THE SAME AS I HAVE ON MY FF II ON A S-12.

I ORIGINALLY HAD JUST THE FF II MOUNTED, BUT IT JUST LOOKED TOO NAKED AND VUNERABLE UP THERE, SO I GOT THE WINGED PROTECTOR FOR IT.

I'LL SEE IF I CAN RUN THAT PIECE DOWN ON THEIR W-SITE, BRB.

I really do appreciate you trying to help, the problem with that mount is that it rises the sight for an AR. The opening on that one is what I need the opening on the protective wing mount to be like. The wing mount sits closer to the rail than the one you have pictured. Maybe my option is to buy one like you use with the FF2, and just file the opening to allow access to the button on the FF3. I think that is what I may do.

KING,

I'D SPEAK WITH BURRIS, AND DETERMINE WHETHER THE PATTERN OF THE FOUR LITTLE STUDS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FF II AND FF III ARE THE SAME, BEFORE YOU SPEND THE MONEY.

JESS1344

I will do that and report back here for anyone in the future who finds this thread.

Ok, here is the deal. The mounts were all updated in December to accommodate the FF3. The sites such as Optics planet simply haven't updated their pictures to show this.(and description) So buy with confidence that they will work with all models. Why I started a thread without first calling? I can't answer that one. Lol . But it may help someone else, thanks Jess1344.

KING,

THANKS, GOOD INFO, AS I AND A BUD EACH HAVE A FF III ON TWO CENTURY C39 CENTURION PISTOLS AND A RIFLE OR TWO.

AS WITH THE FF II ON MY S-12, THEY JUST LOOK TOO NEKKID UP THERE WITH NOTHING ON THEM BUT THAT LITTLE PLASTIC DOGHOUSE.

AT THE POINT IN TIME THAT I BOUGHT THESE FOUR FF III'S, A YEAR AGO, THERE WAS NO WINGED PROTECTOR, AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE EARLY '13 BEFORE THEY WERE DESIGNED AND ON THE STREET.

THE FF II PROTECTOR IS NOTICEABLY CHEAPER THAN THAT 410348 ($130!).

DID YOU HAPPEN TO MAKE NOTE OF WHO YOU SPOKE TO AT BURRIS?

Thought I would post a pic of the mount I got to show the new opening for the BFF3. Maybe this will help someone who stumbles upon this thread in the future.

Of course the ipad loads the picture upside-fucking-down. Sorry, for the pain in your neck from turning your head upside down to see the pic.

With that offset grip mount on the left and the charging handle on the right, my gun will not lay on its side without rolling over on the sight. This mount allows me to set it down on the table at the range without damaging the sight. As far as protecting it if it fell, I think I would still be fucked, as the sight is not encapsulated. But it certainly is much more protected with the wings. For a non safe queen S12 that gets tossed around a little with a Fastfire or similar, I certainly recommend it. They do make mounts that protect these sights better, but I think this works well for what I needed. Now if I had a trijicon or something else more expensive then the FF I would have went with the more expensive protective mount.

KING,

ACTUALLY, AFTER PERUSING THEIR SITE A BIT, THAT'S NOT A FF III IN THAT PICTURE, IT'S A PRIDE-FOWLER RED DOT.

I HAVE AN EMAIL INTO LARUE TO SEE IF THAT PROTECTIVE MOUNT WILL ALSO FIT THE FF III.

WHILE SCOPING OUT PRIDE-FOWLER'S SITE, I DID COME ACROSS THIS NEAT LITTLE MOUNT.

KEEPS YOU FROM HAVING TO SCREW AROUND WITH THOSE TEENIE-WEENIE ADJUSTMENT SCREWS.

UNFORTUNATELY, IT'S STILL OPEN ON THE TOP.

KING,

UH-OH, THAT LARUE MOUNT ONLY FITS THE PRIDE-FOWLER RED DOT SIGHT.

SEE MY COMMO WITH LARUE BELOW.

SEEMS LIKE YOU EITHER GO WITH THE FF III AND ONE OF THE OPEN TOPPED MOUNTS, OR GO WITH THE PRIDE-FOWLER WITH THE OVERHEAD PROTECTION:

Jesse,

No, the Pride Fowler LT 624 will not work with the Fast Fire as there is no cut out for the On/Off switch. We do not have a mount like the LT 624 for the Fast Fire, we discontinued the Iron Dot mounts for the Fast Fire last year. Sorry.

Dan

Comments or Questions:
LARUE,
I WAS LOOKING AT YOUR LT624; DO YOU MAKE THAT SAME PROTECTIVE MOUNT TO FIT THE BURRIS FF III?

THANKS,
JESS
