Hi all, i was doing a little research and saw that some time ago arsenal released a "factory sbr" version of the slr-107ur, for a substantially higher price than the 16in barrel version. Is there something different with "factory sbrs" in relation to the batf? Do you still need a stamp? Is it a transferrable item since its considered factory? If not, why the higher price? My apologies, but im pretty curious and hopefully someone can shed some light on the differences between the "factory sbr" and the ones that are made individually. Thanks alot!

The transfer tax is the same - $200. It costs more because they do the paperwork documenting its creation, which is submitted to the ATF to add it to the registry, then the paperwork to transfer it to your FFL, storing the weapon for an extra period of time while awaiting transfer approval. Also, it doesn't have your name written all over it like with a Form 1, so the resale value will be higher.

With a Form 1, you get a long gun, then you become the manufacturer when you submit the form. There's only one approval to wait for - with a Form 4 transfer from another state, you're waiting for the FFL-to-FFL transfer, then for the transfer from your FFL to you.

A weapon made on a Form 1 or produced by a manufacturer and sold on another form is fully transferable (excluding machine guns made after May 1986). Just because you made it doesn't mean you can't sell it. You're prohibited from manufacturing weapons with the intent to sell them for profit, without the appropriate license. You are not prohibited from later choosing to sell an item you manufactured.
