kevinfreel 215
Bought a 60s Remington 1148. This shotgun is absofuckinlutely beautiful. Wood needs a refinishing, the varnish or lacquer has some hair line crack s that bother me and a few dents that need to be raised. I can't get the butt stock off. I tried everything I could without fudging up the screw that holds it on. Why they would use a flat head is beyond me. Any tips a a5 or sportsman owner could share with me? I don't want to use any lubricants because I don't want to cause any wood degradation, or cause the wood to swell making it tighter. Any thoughts or tips? kevinfreel 215
Thank you! Shoots beautifully. The 2 downsides are the mag size and the bead is a little short. I was about a foot high at 50 yards with sellior and bellot low recoil slugs, which were low recoil enough the gun couldn't cycle. High and low brass bird shot and low recoil buck it screams like a raped ape, much nice that than mossy 500 I had. The auto adjusting friction ring means no dicking around to shoot a lighter of heavier load. Really a beauty of a firearm. I picked it up for $170 which from what I can find isn't a bad deal. I might look for one with a field barrel to break clays with it. Replacement barrels are $$$$$.

msrdiver 42
My Remington 878 Automaster is in about the same price. Nice wood but first, someone put a high viz rib on the front. Secondly, when cleaning the gun I didn't know not too allow cleaner too far down the barrel and much of the original warning yellow paint came off. It reads not to oil the chamber. See this model holds two shells in the gas chamber itself so no oil should go there. Comfy to shoot standard shells. Stamp on gun reads no magnum shells. After this gun, the model 1100 was released.
