Mountain Man 20
Sooooo does that mean no more Saiga's???? Yes new Saiga's are done as of now, it is a complete restucturing. There might be sporterized AK's but under a different name.I hope they do not lose any time and start pumping out rifles again. And for all the guys thinking Vepr's were the safe bet, it looks like they will be in the very short term, but the new brand "concern Kalashnikov"which I don't know what the concern part means, will be absorbing Molot and all other subsidiaries into the one brand. It seems like they are trying to unitize things and hopefully it works! Hopefully it is more of a management tear down and re-name than new facilities and re-building. http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2013_08_14/Izhmash-renamed-to-Kalashnikov-Concern-4240/
gunman1 1,753
Oh my God, I'm sooo glad I got my S12 last week I think even at $729 it wasn't bad, they'll be getting really hard to find very soon.
Mountain Man 20
Yeah 729, definitely not bad, they are at my gun store for around that too.

SamM 12
Would it be a good idea for me to go ahead and get a x39 from Buds? I've been wanting to for a while after prices got a little lower...but now, idk.
Mountain Man 20
Would it be a good idea for me to go ahead and get a x39 from Buds? I've been wanting to for a while after prices got a little lower...but now, idk. I think $500 is now the new Saiga standard. The days of $399 and $299 are long gone, and I don't think we will see them again. The best price I have found was $390 on gunbroker for a .223 and it was a steal. I would say if you want to buy in the next year or so, you can feel good about buying a x39 from Buds for $505, which is what they are listed for today. I think in a year or two if Kalashnikov Concern starts churning its wheels and is not slowed down by the 2014 US elections/legislation/fear mongering or their own Russian continual saga-esque melodramma we could see a nice steady stream of rifles and maybe some lower prices, maybe. mancat 2,368
Just FWIW>. Molot and Izhmash have been the same company for several years. This is just the natural evolution. I would not be surprised to see an AK-12 import in various calibers. It doesn't look like the Russian army is really all that interested.

Kind of, Izhmash bought Molot a few years back but they have been operating as relative separate/independent entities for the most part. I don't know about the natural evolution, it is more of a piss poor managed shit-show that has devolved and deteriorated to a point where that need a new vision and outlook so they don't have to keep being constantly bailed out. It is like they acquired all of these assets and didn't have the wherewithal and vision to fully utilize them. This company needs to seriously streamline. Kalashnikov Concern is looking to vertically align its corporate structure and subsidiaries, and we could see a lot more collaboration and consolidation in the years to come. +1 on the AK-12, I just don't know if the Russian Military isn't that interested why I should be. I would really like to see some progress on the AK-107, 22LR, and 9mm Edited August 21, 2013 by Mountain Man
mancat 2,368
Well to be fair, they aren't interested because they already have a shit ton of rifles on hand. Sort of like how it's really hard to convince the US military that we should replace the M4/M16, even with gradual upgrades/refits. Although I would also be happy if Russian army adopted the AK-12 and jettisoned themselves of millions of AK-74M parts kits Edited August 21, 2013 by mancat

Looking at the AK-12 it is hard to get super exited yet, I would like to shoot one and see the difference between the standard AKM's.
mancat 2,368
not much of a difference really.. just lots of railzzzz/mounts and a different safety layout.

I would love to drink Vodka with this guy http://www.popularairsoft.com/izhmash-now-known-kalashnikov-concern The second half of this article is a business synopsis/overview of the strategy and history, it interests me but YMMV... Mountain Man 20
Give me a break! this is all fluff. Actually this time it isn't, Kalashnikov Inc just unveiled their new bullpup rifles the AS-1 & AS-2 http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/08/25/kalashnikov-as-1-as-2-bullpup-rifles/ The new brand is already rolling the remaining "new" old stock is the last Izhmash branded Saiga's available. I know it is hard to believe, but it has finally actually happened.

jerry52 893
I sorry but when you pass "60" it gets hard to change. I loved Saiga now everything is expensive , the new name plus everything else is not going to make them any less expensive. It was fun converting them. Now it is not going to be that way. Unknown Poster 5
What's a saiga in 233 & in 308 in its original new condition untouched worth? At 63 I refuse to change but refuse to own anything but the best. The saiga is it. Edited October 28, 2013 by Unknown Poster
