Cobra 76 two 2,677
Yes I figured why not try to go ahead and nip it in the bud now... start ONE thread for everyone to come and freak out in, rather than sit back and watch two or more "WHAT?? NO MORE S-12's!!??" threads pop up every single day. I do find it kinda strange that I just scanned over the first two pages in the S-12 and General forums and only saw one thread about the Izhmash name change. SGM started it and as of right now it sits on the second page with no replies? All the past chicken little type "Will Saigas Be Banned??" threads we've had to sit through over the past several years and now they are officially about to cease to exist and still nothing?? Did I miss something? Admittedly I've been too busy lately at home to keep up much on the forum but this is a shocker to me. So... How about it? Can we try to kill a few birds with one thread here? The Obvious questions: 1. So how many are still left or in transit now from mother Russia? 2. Who has Saiga 12's in stock and how many? Prices?? 3. Will the Vepr's also become non existent now that they finally got up & running good here? Will Molot and Izzy come together under the new "Kalashnikov Concern" name brand? Or just Izhmash and Izhmekh? And WTF is up with that 'Conserve' part anyway? 4. Most importantly of course... Will there be a new sporter/ neutered line of guns imported or will this be a new excuse for our socialist gubment to cease all imports from Russia?? Well... let the freakouts and price hikes begin! lol!
SamM 12
I will say this: about the "Concern" part...I believe it's 'lost in translation.' When people are nosy, we say "It's none of your concern", or, "It's none of your business." In Russia, 'concern' is a business related term. The American equivalent may be 'corporation'. http://en.bab.la/dictionary/english-russian/concern
joebanda1213 59
I saw three Saiga 12s at the gun store yesterday. They had a little bit of a different feel to them fit and finish wise. I dont remember the importers but they were $750.
Cobra 76 two 2,677
Hmmm I wonder if they were those new foreign copies? Katamount fury or some crap like that?
joebanda1213 59
They also had two 7.62 saigas these were all new recent imports. And no im not confused with the catamount fury. In my metro atlanta area there has been no lack of S12s in stores or shows. They dont seem to be flying off the shelf since they never seem to work right out of the box. (Sarcasm). The toughest thing for me to find are any of the rifles. Edited August 21, 2013 by Jbanda1213

HighPlainsDrifter 466
(4) My concern is how will this effect production? I care less about what name is engraved on the rifle. And since little has been trickling out of the factory for sometime now I want to look on the bright side and see this as a sign the Russians are getting their shit together. With the strong US demand for their rifles I hope capitalism keeps the S-12 and the rest of their lines in production. Time will tell... (2) Edited: Local shop has one Iz-109 for $780 and one Iz-132 for $580. Not bad since you always pay more up here and I wasn't expecting to come across them in the first place. pedal2alloy 206
If the demand is there (which it is), then there will be supply, weather it be from Russia or even made in the U.S.
thebuns1 4,323
The imports can cease with a stroke of a pen. I suspect they will eventually, but nobody really knows exactly what will become of them, nor how many are coming in, nor will. Too many variables.
filthygovemploye 64
well last we heard congress expressly stated in that farm bill that no shotguns could be banned from import based upon atf shenanigans. i dont remmeber whether they said s12 by name though... i picked up a "new" one off a local msg board for 700 and it sat on there for 3 weeks before he finally came off his 1k price point... are you bored today cobra? lotta pics and thought went into htat post, lolz! my wife is headin your way now btby... she headin to charlotte Edited August 24, 2013 by filthygovemploye
MegamanX 65
Are they coming out with a replacement or something?
ec4321 113
The ATF knocked on my door and asked for my S-12s as well. Not just stopping the importation, they are reversing the previous importations. They are sending them back to their country of origin.

jstndrfr 0
To the OP....Izhmash changed their name. How do you come up with a statement like " now they are officially about to cease to exist " are you implying the S12 will no longer be imported because of a name change?? Spartacus 1,619
correct saiga 12 no longer imported, it will be called the k-12... Holy Geeze!.... Let's hope they don't call it a "K-12", the libs would just eat that up! (Google "K-12" to see what I mean) The 12K would be a much better model name: http://guns.wikia.com/wiki/Saiga_12K
