FredRepr650 0
Is this normal? Did I receive a defective part? I dont know as much as some of you, so I don't know how an AK sight being crooked in that area will affect accuracy. If it is purely cosmetic I wont bother returning it, but if my rifle will shoot crooked I don't wanna use it.
jamesavery22 54
lol that's pretty off center. I have only held a couple 24mm FSB's in my hand that weren't already pressed onto a barrel. Neither of those had any concentric issues that were noticeable at first glance. The one you have is definitely noticeable. Does that mean it could press on with no issues and work fine? No one knows until you try. I'd ping whoever you bought it from and see if you could swap it with one that isn't so obviously off center. The only worry I'd have is the block cracking where it is thinnest when you press it on. Hard to tell from the pic how thin it actually is there. If there's plenty of material it should work fine.
mancat 2,368
as far as aiming/sighting goes, it doesn't matter as long as the sights can be adjusted to zero. on the other hand, if you want to use a muzzle device, the off-center hole is a bigger concern, because the muzzle device is not going to sit concentric to the bore.. this could lead to baffle strikes on the muzzle device if the opening is not large enough on the muzzle device. jamesavery22 54
Good point. Wasn't even thinking about a muzzle attachment. Nightmare solution would be it's not only off center but it's also tilted. Longer the muzzle attachment the more the risk. If it's brand new absolutely return it.
