best type of red dot for pap m92?

Recommended Posts

Hey all, i was wanting a little input in planning on a red dot for my newly acquired pap m92. What type would you all find more suitable for running an m92 with a sling- open reflex sight like the burris fastfire, or a tube style like the primary arms microdot? Im not too familiar with red dots in general, and the lack of a stock really throws me because the only weapons ive ever had with optics have been rifles.i have quite a bit to do before getting into purchasing optics for it, this has been on my mind tho. Thanks for the replies.

Thanks darth, i saw that thread but was worried about the lack of a stock on my m92 and if thatd make a key difference in tube vs reflex. With a baby on the way i got limited funds to get this all put together. If i were going definite sbr itd be a moot question but ill be hard pressed to pay for the stamp n all before my funds are "reallocated" so to speak!

I don't like open reflex sights. They simply can't be as durable as a well constructed tube sight.

I have no experience with the primary arms sight but many swear by it. I was able to get a Sparc for $170 and it seemed like money well spent to me.

As far as using a dot without a stock, my M92 has no stock at the moment and it's pretty easy to use it with the Sparc. If I was not going to put a stock on it I'd get a sling to stabilize while shooting.

Im reconsidering getting the sparc but more importantly, i am wondering where the best spot is for mounting a a red dot on the pap m92- up front using m.i rail or an ultimak or on the receiver cover like the stormwerkz rail. Im not terribly concerned about co witness. Ive also never shot anything with an optic mounted far forward either. What do yall think?

Also is there a cheaper alternative than the stormwerkz rail--seems a lil steep for a tiny bit o rail lol.

Also the smaller the optic the better, i dont wanna weigh this thing down.

I looked around for ways to mount an optic and I decided on the MI rail.  I am fine with the scout position for a dot and this system is very solid.

The stormwerkz rail did seem expensive to me plus it puts the optic on the top cover which is not 100% solid.

The other alternative I considered was mounting a side rail.
