Yup. That's the style the human glider guy used on each leg. It looked fun.

 

Jet engines are notorious for high maintenance. The bearings can wear pretty fast. Also, don't try riding through a sandstorm. No airfilter :(

 

I like the bike idea. Instead of using jet exhaust as thrust, they coupled the motor to a gearbox, just like a turbo-prop.

GUYS,

   VERY COOL, BUT THAT BIG JUG OF JET JUICE IS SETTING WAAAY TOO CLOSE TO THAT RED HOT ENGINE, IMHO.

 

   IF THAT ENGINE WERE TO COME APART AND RED-HOT SHRAPNEL WENT FLYIN'......

if the turbine grenades, fuel won't matter because you'll probably get chopped to bits by rotor blades anyway.

 

we've had a couple steam turbines grenade in recent years on the ships I work on. the blades have taken out steam and utility lines, and even embedded themselves in hull steel.
