I don't know why you say, "  are SAIGAs ever coming back". maybe you aren't really looking.  just do a GOOGLE search for 5.45 SAIGA, I found 4 places right off the bat that have them

+1. They are out there. Century had them yesterday.

I want a 2nd 7.62x39...  I tell ya if they're ever $299. again, I'm buying four of'em.

I had a 5.45 for a few weeks, paid about 325 for it, decided I didn't want to do the conversion and sold it for 350.man I have been kicking my self every since then. (This was last year)

My S-12 is still sitting right where I left it.  :)

Even though I've left it unattended for a while, it hasn't run amok and shot anyone, either.

Wow! It didn't go crazy and start shooting?!

I remember gun shows where the AKs were going as cheap as $230+, late '80s early '90s before the '94 ban. I was fooling around on the internet while on my medical vacation and wondered how much the guns I had bought were worth in today's dollars. I found this currency inflation calculator site and what I spent and what it's worth today really opened my eyes. I know almost all my stuff is priceless, but some were really good deals and others definitely impulse. Of my guns, I don't regret buying what I did, just selling or trading what I did. It was fun to see what I spent in the '70s as in today's dollars.

LOL...  I Open Carry quite often.

One day I was strolling through a store and a young boy showed/told his mother that I had a 'real' gun.

She actually told him to stop looking at it, and "Guns are dangerous they kill people."

I looked at his mom and said, "Yeah, amazing isn't it, and it has never jumped out of it's holster and started randomly shooting Women & Children."

I paid $505, shipped and transferred, for my Yugo underfolder in 2010... I still feel ok with that! :)

I also have a policy of never selling guns. To steal from a fellow member, I'm a gun-roach-motel.. They check in, they don't check out...

That's me as well! I even came close to selling a few C&R rifles to fund another project.......but in the long run I couldn't do it and just saved up more for the other project.....glad I did!

LOL, I'm the same way, the only guns I have sold where duplicates, during a panic buying frenzy,  MADDI, SAR 3, AR15.

now, that  I don't have any more duplicates, NONE SHALL PASS! haha.gif

Good call! I have 6 cars (that are all mostly worth less than your boots) and about a $12k home theater system (at market prices... I've invested around $20k)... All of those would go away, save for a single car to get me to work, before I would sell a gun. I can always make more money and buy more cars and speakers, but can I buy an S-12 in 10 years? I honestly doubt it...

I've gotten some excellent deals from my best friend selling his "dupes" and "cast-offs"... G21 new @550, stainless 22/45 @$250, Ruger P90 stainless @ $350, new LC-9 @ $360... He even traded his Carbon-15 with 5 mags and 60 rounds for a Yamaha Banshee that he then later "traded" to what he said was a "meth head" for a beat up offroad Jeep Cherokee... The "meth head" burned out the clutch, and rear tires, doing burnouts with it in under a week and my buddy gave him back his Jeep... So, my dipshit friend traded a Carbon-15 for a broken Banshee.... STUPID!!!

Lies? Sell one of what? A car or a gun?

On cars, I agree... The last to go would be my '86 Camaro murdering '91 'Stang (HAD to get the jab in!!!)...

Guns? Fuck that... Seriously.. I would have to be completely out of options (family, friends, ghetto apartments, etc) before I sold a gun...

So... That's my disaster plan.. Roll the 'Stang, sell the guns (alright... Fair is fair.. I'm a liar... I'd keep a single .45ACP), and live in poverty.

Camaro is long gone. Stuffed it under a Hyundai driving like an asshole to get to some pussy. Not a wise choice of actions. So yes sell cars. Be hard to give up my bronco though. Although I suppose its got enough room for guns and sleeping.

Homelessness... solved!

I hear you... I'd slit my wrists if I ever tangled up the '74 GMC 4x4.. Dad bought it new (first new car he ever bought), from the dealership he worked at that  my G'Pa owned, and gave it to my mom for their first wedding anniversary (that's why it's BLUE!!!). I wouldn't care what it cost, that truck would become right again with its original VIN. It's currently a crapped out pile of shit due to a completely inept "professional" restoration... On the good news side of things, that is what propelled me to learn body and paint work... I can't fuck it up worse than the pro's did!

---------

Well.. You're all set to buy a man's car then... Mustangs are a PLENTY! wink.png

I've also abused my "muscle car" in the name of pussy... I lit up 3 gears while my g/f at the time was following me. She bitched about the smell of the tire smoke, but it was all good (and rather enjoyable) a couple hours later! Current fiance is also quite afraid of that car, which also raised prestige for me. When she doesn't know how to react, she gets dead silent... I ran 4 gear flat out when merging on the highway (up to about 110 in my mild, budget, car) and got that response! I taught her how to drive manual in her '93 Escort ("The Thunderscort") and she detests it... but she still wants to learn to drive the 5.0... smile.png It ain't "fast", but it's a lot of fun!

I also had a moment of vengeance when I saw the whore that ripped my heart from my chest (nearly 10 years ago now, and it still stings a little) with her new b/f at an intersection.. I powerslid my 'Stang through the intersection sideways, turbo mufflers hailing the gods of power @ WOT (if I had to take a guess... that car is at least 140db when pegged out), grabbed second like a pimp, and continued my tirade.... Certainly not mature or safe, but it felt REALLY good... 10 years more mature, I wouldn't do it again.

Montec!!! My Chevy man! Good to hear from you!

Are you really comparing owning a car as a pro vs. homelessness? I already conceded that I won't give up my last .45...

This thread is way off the rails (I know... I have a penchant for that) but it is becoming totally awesome despite that! That's why I love the community here... You need a gear head? We got 'em... You need a lawyer... We got 'em... You need a plumber? Got those too... GREAT COMMUNITY!!!

My two owner 5.0, always garage kept, never rusty, and dead stock when I bought it (right down to the mufflers) was a cool $3600 cash @ 72k on the clock (I've put about $4k more into it since then)...

The best part? I bought it at 27, didn't pack it under a Korean car, and its in my shop right now waiting for more maniacal plans... ;)

I hope you get back to a place where you can play again! For my money, there is no substitute for a late model S-10 with an LS-1... As soon as the 4cyl pops in mine, that's my plan!!!:)

I've offered you up some help to relocate to IN before... I know many gearheads out here and we can help hook you up! Just saying...

Haha your razzing me for having a camaro and you gotta s10? At least you wanna put a good motor in it. I had a buddy dump a ton of money into a 4.3 s10 on high school. Chip exhaust ignition all the easy shit. Never turned off the governor though. Then he bought a new Chevy diesel and got big tires the stacks and chrome balls hanging off the tow bar. I think he suffers from small penisitis.

I bought the camaro for 1000 bucks. It was covered in leaves, paint flaking, no headliner. Washed it. Then the muffler fell off. Took advantage of the better exhaust flow and she got an edelbrock performer carb and intake. Ran like a bat out of hell. Didn't look very glorious. She still had the brown and gold paint scheme she got at the factory. A 5.slow will be my next car. I've always really been a ford guy anyways.

Yes.. I'm razzing you for having a Camaro, while I own a budget Chevy work truck *AND* own a superior Ford car from the era... ;)

I'm a strong advocate of the S-10 and will never left that go (full frame "real" truck... easy as hell to work on... parts are cheap... and they're dead reliable). I've owned 3 S-10s and this one I'm keeping until death ('01 Extended cab, 3rd door, manual windows and locks, manual tranny, A/C, and cruise... I just wish it had a rubber floor mat instead of carpet)...I'm already planning on semi-annual body shop rust repair trips until I die.

I'm glad you're down for the push rod 5.0s, since I'm clearly a fan. However, I'm no brand loyalist myself... I own at least one of every American manufacturer that has built cars in my lifetime (2 Fords, (well... technically 1 of them is a Mazda) 1 Chevy, 2 AMCs, and a Chrysler). There are too many great cars out there to limit your vision!

I don't know why Chevy killed off the s10 series. The Colorado has to be the cheapest trucks I've been in. Ford killed off the ranger as well. Kinda sucks. I've maybe gotta a project car idea. A joined t effort between me and a buddy. Air cooled vw but stuffing a 2.5 turbo subaro motor in it if we can find a donor at the scrap yard. If not well go the the other way and pick up a carbed 5.7l. He's got two other vws to resto first. The fiancee thinks she wants to move to new Hampshire to be closer to her god son so well see what happens. Shit I thought about buying a Honda del Sol or a moats for a v8 conversion as well.

And then I start buying ammo instead.

Im all for selling......................and buying. Have sold many and never had regret. Sometimes its an impulse buy, other times I thought I would like it but once I got to shooting it I realized it wasnt for me, or sometimes I buy thinking I need/want it but when I have it like ...eh..why did even waste money on it. Whatever the case....If I dont shoot it then all it does is take up space and money. Thats when it goes bye bye. The only one I ever had a slight incling of regret was selling my Garand and only because I had 3k rounds of ammo that I sold with it. In hind sight I should have shot up most of it, kept the bress and then sold off the rifle.

As for buying Saigas...I dont see the point in it anymore. Good idea when they were $100-$250...... but now???? No! I bought a unfired 5.45 Vepr K (RobArm converted) for $800, a 5.45 bulgy skeleton stock side folder (original Bulgy) for about the same. A LGS has a Legion Saiga converted 5.45 for $850 with a 20% off durring Oct. That comes out to $680. Why bother with cheap conversions and cheap parts and time spent when I can buy the same or better for about the same money?!?!?!?

I buy.  I sell.

If it's been sitting for years never shot, and I don't care if I ever shoot it again, I sell it.

I've sold 4 since the panic began.  Made nice cash on each, and reinvested.  The only one I let go that I may have a slight twinge of regret was a yugo sks that I owned for 10 years and never shot once.  But the guy who bought it appreciates it more than I did.

I have a hard time selling guns too.  I felt like shit after selling an old sks that would stovepipe  more often than it shot.  POS but still missed it as soon as it was gone.  Same thing for an old Leupold scope I had mounted on my Kar98 with a Springfield 30-06 barrel.  I guess I'm just sentimental.

and p.s.

Camaros and Rustangs are both slow haha.gif

FD RX7 with LS1/6 speed FTW  super_man.gif

Yeah, I'm talking unmolested/converted models.

well, if you can't find one like that on the net, then the next best thing is to see a local FFL dealer who has his license with the major distributors,  ie. RSR, AMCHAR. JERRY'S GUNS etc... ( which most every FFL holder does),  and he can look at their website on what is available.
