Constantine 2
I'm considering optics for one of my rifles and I like forward mounted red dots on the Ultimak rail. I've been looking at the Larue T1 package because it's a highly competitive price for a top quality optic and quick detach mount. The only thing I don't like is that I've read it won't cowitness on my ultimak and some people have had trouble fitting it to the rail. A bit of digging has shown two options, both of which are supposed to provide cowitness and quick detatch from the ultimak: A.R.M.S. 31 https://www.google.com/#psj=1&q=arms+31 Aimpoint 12184 https://www.google.com/#psj=1&q=aimpoint+12184 There is also an Aimpoint 12905 but I'm not sure that it provides cowitness https://www.google.com/#psj=1&q=aimpoint+12905 Does anyone have any experience with these, or know of a good option for a QD Aimpoint H1/T1 that provides cowitness? Also, how well do they hold zero fixed and after being removed and reattached? I would rather take a non cowitness Larue that holds zero and will hold up to the same rigors of abuse that everything else on an AK should, than an A.R.M.S. 31 that breaks more easily and provides cowitness but doesn't hold zero. Any information is greatly appreciated. Edited November 9, 2013 by Constantine
jimdigriz 580
RS Products AKML side mount. Light, rugged, returns to zero, and puts the weight in a more favorable place than the Ultimak. The Ultimak used to be good but is now obsolete.
Zombiehunter762 376
I have a Krebs Quad rail on my Arsenal SLR107-UR with a T-l on a low Larue QD mount. And Love it. My Draco SBR I have a Atterro Arms Trijicon RMR mount with a Trijicon Adjustable RMR RM06. They both rock.
Constantine 2
Hey guys, I appreciate the effort to help, but I'm already decided on all aspects of this system aside from the optic mount. If I were going to use the side mount, it would be to attach a scope for 100+ yard shooting. I prefer the ultimak for a red dot, and I don't find the weight of micro series optics to be detrimental to balance. I've considered having a QD red dot for the Ultimak and a side mount illuminated scope so that I could have a choice of optics to switch between, but this gets expensive and would only be practical if both scopes stay sighted in when taken on and off the rifle... If anyone has any experience with QD mounts for the aimpoint micro series please share. I'm hoping someone knows which sit the lowest and which are the most durable and best overall quality. Thanks
Parf 19
The ARMS will cowitness, and return to zero. I the Aimpoint throw lever does not return to zero. I'd probably look online for a unit with ARMS new levers.
