SA M1A .308win, Standard, Walnut

Recommended Posts

Picked her up today.

Took her out to the firing line, loaded a mag with Tula 150gr FMJ.

Fired 10 fast shots aimed at the 100 yard steel human silhouette and 10 hits rang out.

Repeat at the 250 yard steel human silhouette and I missed once.

A guy with a spotting scope said they were impacting low on the target.

Put a sight-in target at 25 yards and put five slow aimed shots on it, neat little group 3" low.

Will have to correct that this weekend as I had to pack it up and pick up the family.

Let the addiction begin, time to start spending more money, new gun = accessories.

It has already started with this rifle, so far tonight I've purchased:

1 M14 M1A USGI Extractor & Plunger and Spring, NOS bundle
1 M14 M1A USGI Slotted / Vented Handguard Excellent Plus
1 M14 M1A USGI Sling, Canvas Excellent
2 M14 M1A CMI .308win 20rd Magazine Parkerized

Thanks for the compliments guys.

I've wanted a Garand and/or M14 for ages, and am thrilled to finally get the M1A.

Been dry firing at everything and the more I do the more I like the trigger.

I must've have got a good one, no casting marks i.e. orange peel, very smooth surfaces and smooth pull, sharp break.

Much better than the trigger on my Saiga.308-ver.21... Which might have to go up for sale soon. unsure.png Too expensive to feed them both.

I really like the vented handguard.
Paid a nice bit of coin to get it in a 'NOS As-New/Excellent' condition.
Going to be snagging a USGI Flash Hider with bayonet lug.
Thinking about a used USGI walnut stock to use as a beater and preserve the original stock.

Nice rifle and good pictures. Got a range report yet?

No, just the original report, today is too questionable to go to the range.

But 9/10 on human steel silhouettes at 250yrds on a rifle just out of the box, with Russian steel ammo speaks well for it.

I've some Federal GMM, USA AMAX, Rem Core-Lokt and the Tula to try with her, she already shot the Tula well, so we'll see what gives.
