Steelart99 0
I've looked around and no-one seems to have any ... of course I don't know all the suppliers like you guys. I'm looking for a basic 7.62x39 x 16in to do my own conversions. Any leads would be appreciated.
SaigaKen 338
a bit pricey http://www.armslist.com/posts/2333301/amarillo-texas-rifles-for-sale--saiga-7-62x39 http://www.gunsamerica.com/980499914/SAIGA_16_5_BBL_7_62X39_AK_MAGS_FREE_SHIPPING.htm http://forum.pafoa.org/firearms-6/234537-saiga-ak47-7-62x39.html
Steelart99 0
Like everyone, I was hoping for something in the $400-$450 range ... or less (not what they used to be!!!). Where the heck are all the Black Friday deals!!! Thanks
SaigaKen 338
$500 is prob the best you will find......but ya never know.....
Inebriated 31
I sucked it up and overpaid ($480 from Bud's). I already had everything but a front sight base for it, so the cost wasn't as terrible for the overall rifle.. But don't forget to check your local forums, they're usually a good resource. Steelart99 0
Gad ... still hopin' for a Black Friday deal ... even free shipping. It's starting to look like I'll have to drop $600 (rifle, shipping, FFL fees) before I can even start to make a mod. sigh .....

Rhodes1968 1,638
A couple of hundred bucks here and there wont make much difference down the road. Ammo is where you end up spending the real money and x39 is still fairly well priced if the selection a bit limited. At this point seems to make more sense getting a "pre-converted" x39, doesn't Atlantic still offer those?

If it's available at the same price, then definitely, go for it.
Steelart99 0
grabagun.....looks like 2 left Didn't see this until 2:00 am this morning, put the last one in my cart, filled out the FFL email ... then started looking at VEPR's ... you know ... just in case. Then my internet connection (satellite) totally crapped out and I could not get reconnected. Finally got back to my cart this evening ... and the last one was gone. DOH! Steelart99 0
Well, I was finally able to find one in stock (http://lanbosarmory.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=24_29_30_31&products_id=8874) at Lanbo's Armory. Price wasn't exactly where I wanted it to be, but I pulled the trigger anyway. Now I'll have to look into the options for "conversions" .... YEAH!

Steelart99 0
Yeah, I was relatively pleased. Gonna have to find a source for 10-round mags now since Colorado doesn't allow anything over 15-rounds. Dumb-A$$'s.
Inebriated 31
On the upside, if you plan to just use Saiga mags, no need to buy a bullet guide or spend the tedious 30 minutes filing the mag catch! EDIT - nvm, I thought I read that you were limited to 10 rounds. Edited November 23, 2013 by Inebriated

May as well come to terms with that eventuality folks. 15rds? That aint too bad in a 308 but pretty well bites for smaller rounds.
ResponsiveResolve 7
I just checked lanbo looks like they are out. Looks like you did good steelart99...good job. For the Mags could you use like 30 rd mags cut in half or the a round limiter?
Steelart99 0
I might just have to get my brother, who lives in Texas, to send me the stack of 30 round mags that I "lent" to him many years ago ....
Steelart99 0
So should I stick to the Saiga 10-rnd mags and should I be able to find them ... Russian/Bulgarian 30-rnd mags? Are the Yugo ones as good? Thanks guys.
Rhodes1968 1,638
Man you have to make the call on the mag size. Surefire makes a ten rounder also as do others as an alternative.
LuPiN8oR 333
Arsenal 10 rounders are super nice, i have 3 and to be honest i use them more than my 30s. Hey why dont you get a friend outta state to get some hungarian 20rnd tanker mags and put a five rnd block in it? Just thinkin out loud. Lol.
Steelart99 0
So I can "own" and "use" 30-rnd magazines that I got before the law. Retailers just can't sell to Colorado residents. Sherrifs have stated that there is no way to enforce such a law. Gotta love the progressive agenda !!! "Although the sale of high-capacity clips became illegal on Monday, the law is not retroactive and older magazines can still be used if they’ve been already been purchased." "Grandfather Clause. A person may possess a large-capacity magazine if he or she (1) owns the magazine on July 1, 2013 and (2) maintains continuous possession of the magazine. If a person asserts the grandfather provision as a defense against an alleged violation of the law, the prosecution has the burden of proof to refute the assertion." Inebriated 31
I like that they have the grandfather clause, but still claim it is to get magazines off the streets. Couldn't POSSIBLY be an easy way to fuck gun owners....

WEll there's two ways this can go. Lazy/asshole cops will claim every magazine is illegal and then it's up to you to prove it isn't. By the time you spend all the money and time to prove it you'll have put in more effort and money then the average person. On the other side they can roughly approximate the date of manufacture through manufacturer marks on the magazine itself. Other then that they can't prove you didn't buy it when it was first made or yesterday.
