Problem installing internal stock adapter

Recommended Posts

I bought an internal stock adapter from dph, and grinding off the tang is simple enough, but directly above my pistol grip there are two pins riveted in. They are in the spot where I'm supposed to screw the adapter into the reciever.

I can't take the pins out because one of them is holding a small skinny spring that travels the

length of the reciever on the left hand side.

What am I supposed to do? All the instruction videos just say cut off the tang, but don't mention these pins.

You dont need that stuff. Just drill the rivet dimples in your second picture and drive  them out. the holes in your adapter line up and you can secure them with round head allens. i have the same adapter.  I think that spring may be securing you fire control group. if it is you will need a new retainer as well

Is there a place I can reuse that spring, even temporarily until I can get a different retainer ordered?

You can cut off the part that's in your way, or put some other bend in it.  As long as it is retaining your pins and will stay in place, it should work.  If you do some research into "AK retainer wire" or "AK Shepards crook", you will see various configurations of it depending on the manufacturer or country, etc.
