Donkeyshins 87
Dragging the thread back on topic...here's my 5.56. Tapco G2 FCG and trigger guard from Dinzag, Black Horse Armory AK/SVD stock and a POSP 4x24 scope from Eastwave. I'll be adding a Dinzag bullet guide at some point so I can use larger-capacity steel magazines and am still investigating the options for the foregrip. Apologies for the crappy photo - taking pictures is not my forte. Edited December 6, 2011 by Donkeyshins

josey88 21
I think the VD scope doesn`t have the diopter . If you don`t have 20-20 vision and need the slightless focus adjustment, you are screwed . Get the D model that comes with the diopter (is the rear eyepiece adjustment focus ) . It can be had at Kalinka for $240.00 or so ...it was less , but I believe they raised the prices on this year . Edited January 21, 2012 by josey88
soren57 1
No, it does have the diopter. If that was the only problem then i guess this will be a great buy. And cant argue with that comment about the prices being raised. Better get one now before the price becomes redicules.
josey88 21
Well, if you want my honest opinion , (I have a 8x42D on my PSL) I would look for something like a red dot or better still, a 1-4x24 scope . I have the 30 mm CMR scope installed on my Saiga .223 , iluminated reticle 1-4x24 and it is like a red dot on steroids , with the advantage of a 4x optics . A very precise scope perfect for an AK or an AR in close or medium distances . There are different brands and you can choose . It is a short tube, usually 10 inches long . You can get the side mount from K-VAR , which is specifically made for the Saigas and has the SVD mount mechanism that I personally prefer to the AK type mount that you would have on the VD scope . Of course , it will cost you more because of the side mount and the rings plus the scope , but it is worth it. It is just an idea to consider before buying the POSP . Here is mine : Edited January 22, 2012 by josey88

soren57 1
Hey JTucker how is that tapco folding stock? I heard that tapco replace the plastic hinge with a metal one.
JTucker 2
It'll do. Seems to be decent of course nowhere near the quality of a nice one but for $25 its hard to beat. It doesn't have the wobble of the older ones I've messed with but I really won't know until it gets used for a while.
mancat 2,368
Update to my earlier post in the pics thread... Almost done with full AK-74/AK-101 conversion. Got the HG retainer and both blocks installed. Now they just need to be aligned and pinned. Then, to paint the rifle, and see if I can fill in that retarded scrubbed importer mark while I'm at it. Was going to get it done today, but now I have to go on a work trip tonight. Ugh. Another set of wood furniture will be going on there.. I have a very pretty Bulgarian set with tiger striping on the handguard that I will be refinishing in original amber shellac. Set in pics is just done in BLO - as usual, kind of dull, but very grippy and tough. Magazines are Polish Beryl. Edited January 24, 2012 by mancat
