Picture Post ,Lets see your .223!

Recommended Posts

Update to my earlier post in the pics thread... Almost done with full AK-74/AK-101 conversion. Got the HG retainer and both blocks installed. Now they just need to be aligned and pinned. Then, to paint the rifle, and see if I can fill in that retarded scrubbed importer mark while I'm at it.

Was going to get it done today, but now I have to go on a work trip tonight. Ugh.

Another set of wood furniture will be going on there.. I have a very pretty Bulgarian set with tiger striping on the handguard that I will be refinishing in original amber shellac. Set in pics is just done in BLO - as usual, kind of dull, but very grippy and tough.

Magazines are Polish Beryl.

Nice job. Are those bulgarian FSB and Gas block? Were you able to use the original "extended" pin hole to align the gas block? Was your barrel notched for the locking lever on the HG retainer?

First, I have every right to be an ass because I am a lawful gun owner and frequent this forum and don't want it to turn into some fucking weirdo illegal gun / militia bullshit cause of idiots like yo

First of all, instead of being an ass, you could be more specific. Second, i said i JUST got the gun, meaning I haven't bought or added the American parts I need. Third, chill out.

CCCP you've got no right to be an asshole to him. He just fucking got the gun. He put the 30 in for what? Five fucking minutes? Let's see the BATF worry about him putting in an unloaded 30 round magaz

Yes they're Bulgarian parts. The gas block matched the factory pin channel but is drilled slightly crooked (off by less than 1mm!) so I'll need to either drill it out or use a 3mm round file to get a pin in there, then drill the other.

I somehow got the FSB on perfectly straight on the first try, but it still moves so I'm going to test it on paper first.

Barrel was not notched for HG retainer, but did have the positioning cuts on both sides. I did the measurements to position the notch using a plum HG (plum HG is shorter than wood, but wood can be fitted), scored the barrel, and used a round file that matched the profile of the latching cut on my WASR. Eventually I was able to get the retainer in place and the lever rotating tightly. Both wood and plum HG pieces fit very snug.

Man... Having a huge set of small files is key to doing this stuff by hand. If I didn't have them I'd be screwed. It's amazing how well these 30 year old Bulgarian parts fit on a brand-new Russian rifle. It is a tight rifle.

Videos are photos, right? Got barrel components drilled & pinned on my .223, and took it out for a test shoot.

Classic!

Good job converting and good video perspective on why classic design remains timeless and ...well, classic.

Personally, I stopped caring one way or the other a long time ago after seeing that the majority of foreign firearms I see online and in person - even for sale on gun racks - are not compliant at all. 922r is the "no spitting gum on sidewalks" ordinance of the firearms world. I would not suggest outright that anyone choose to ignore 922r, but I believe it to be an unenforceable law that is broken unknowingly on a regular basis, is likely unconsitutional, and ripe for legal challenge. Again this is my personal decision and I'm not suggesting that anyone take what I say as legal advice - I'm not a layer and I won't pretend to be one, even for Halloween.

He could have a US-made bolt and FCG.

But, yeah, I agree, that's some class-A gun porn right there. wub.png

I'm just about finished. Fun project, I need to get a .308 next. :) Below is what I've done to it.

MSA ar mag adapter, modified UTG handguard, Tapco double hook trigger, Vector 1-6x28mm F.F.P. scope

windage and elevation adjustable scope mount,Saw grip , and a typical M4 stock. The rifle feels

great and I'm looking forward to getting out to shoot it.

Nice rifles guys, the forum has gotten quiet (probley just me), i will post a update of my .223 sometime around next week.

Just to keep the momentum going (my AKAR: more mods ahead, but nothing "fundamental").

Nice Job Pyzik

Thank you.

Pyzik, you caused me to buy a Beryl folder. It's really comfortable. Only PITA was finding/modding the metric screws.

<snip>

Glad I cold help ;). Yes, the screws were a pain for me too. I couldn't find a 6mm so I had to file down an 8mm.

Beautiful rifle.
