Factory 7.62 handguard on 308.

My 308 came with the wood furniture, I want to put the black plastic one on it. Im not sure what the one I have is from what caliber. Its not wanting to slide all the way down on the pins. Will it work if I open up the barrel channel more,Thanx

just do it. see whats holding it from going all the wway in and sand it away thats what i would do.

To answer your question, if I have my facts straight, on the 308 caliber saiga it uses it's own handguard so smaller calibers will not fit due to the bigger barrel. All rifle buttstocks are interchangeable. I can't comment on the shotgun models.

I had to modify mine a little on the end where the pins are at and on the part that bolts onto the receiver.....

I had the same issue with fitting mine. Used the dremel like a madman until I got it almost all the way. And then I realized the true culprit of why it wasn't fitting...

 

I found a little curved groove that was stopping the handguard from fitting in the receiver fully. Here's a picture to explain. Hope it helps.

I may be out on a limb here, but on both of my Saiga 308 rifles I have the tapcp forearm.

 

They work great, and I really like the side rails.

 

I mean, they ARE tapco, so its not the nicest stuff out there, but they are decent.

Thanx guys ill get to grinding, The Wood stock I sold long ago and the wood forearm I cut it down and it didnt turn out the way I wanted it,i why Im going with the plastic
