superA 289
I jus purchased a nearly new, like maybe 5 rounds thru it, Norinco paratrooper. All matching, all original, beautiful. Some guy wants to trade a beautiful Savage 24c, 22lr/20 gauge for it. These are both guns that I have spent a lot of time looking for....argh! Personal experience, opinions please. Thanks. XD45 7,124
I think you'll find most here would not make that trade, but it's your nickel.
jwulf 179
I would trade for or keep the harder to find of the 2 if you ultimately want to own both.
Cobra 76 two 2,677
Took me a long time to find my Norinco paratrooper mdl. I wouldn't trade it for that. Not sure on the availability of that particular Savage but they are not importing any more Chinese guns at all.
mancat 2,368
No. Buy a new Savage O/U. They're not that expensive. The Norinco Paratrooper will continue appreciating value as they are collector's rifles to people who like SKS rifles. Edited December 17, 2013 by mancat
superA 289
The 24 series are no longer in production and they made very few 24c's. But yes they are now making a Savage 42. So far just in 22lr/.410 but more to come I'm sure. One thing I like about the potential value of the sks is in case a detach mag ban comes into play down the road. A ten round fixed mag rifle firing the 7.62x39 would get very popular I'd guess. Edit/ The Norinco is the nicest sks I've set eyes on. Coupled with the 16 inch barrel, wow! Just bad timing with the other coming available I guess. I almost traded a 1979 Marlin 39A for a 24c years ago, but, kept the 39A to give to my brother for a birthday gift. Edited December 17, 2013 by superA
Matthew Hopkins 1,065
if it was me, I wouldn't.
EthanM 514
I wouldn't. I'd much rather have the norinco.

haugpatr 972
If you made that trade, you could be in this commercial.
thebuns1 4,323
I really wouldn't trade much for any 22lr. That's just me.
Arik 565
In a heart beat. Have no use for the 22/shotgun over unders or SxS. A SKS on the other hand is a very practical rifle
Sdustin 578
No trade. I mean whats the O/U worth ill bet no r nearly as much as a sks. And if its the model that takes ak mags then its worth more than some aks right now.
superA 289
The Savage 24c goes from 350-550 depending on condition and caliber. This one is on the 500+ spectrum. The sks does not take AK mags, which I like. I love the 10 round fixed mag. The only thing I plan on changing is putting on tech sights and looking for a fixed 20 round mag. YOT 3,743
Only if I had other SKSs.
Sim_Player 1,939
I know someone who got very near his asking price of $1000 for his paratrooper, just a few days ago. Do not do it. Edited December 18, 2013 by Sim_Player

Where the hell was he? I love mine and I'd bet it's nicer than his was. But for 1000 bucks they can have it and a fraction of my soul.
Sdustin 578
yea id say the values from what superA says are about even maybe even less for the sks at least in a free state that can own AKs i could see an sks being worth more in a ban state

Rhodes1968 1,638
No... just no... never ever needed a 22 and a shotie at the same time. Nice SKS though.
mostholycerebus 415
I would not get rid of any military arm, especially imported, right now.
