sonofliberty 6
Hey everyone. Hypothetical situation: If you were going to be stuck with one flash hider permanently attached to the end of your favorite AK barrel forever, which one would you go with? If your pick isn't in the poll, what one do you like and why?
thebuns1 4,323
The '74 style. Preferably the faceted 1-piece model. It does everything well.
thebuns1 4,323
Oops. Its about FH's and not muzzle brakes.
Inspector 12 37
Smith Vortex is one of the best I have ever shot. Works very well on my AR so it seemed a natural for my AKs as well.
nsnate02 32
The Phantom 5C2 is hard to beat for the money and performance in an all round package.
JESS1344 508
GUYS, I REPLACED THE FACTORY BIRDCAGES ON 4 CENTURY ARMS C39 CENTURION PISTOLS WITH THE VORTEX, 2 BEING MINE, AND 2 OF A FRIENDS, AND ALL YOU GET OUT OF THEIR 11.3" BARRELS IS TWO OR THREE SPARKS, USING RUSSIAN BARNAUL. SaigaFL 4
Smith Vortex is the best IF you can find them in 14-1 LH MM. I didn't realize what a flame thrower the std. AK74 is until I shot at a indoor range, whoa !
JESS1344 508
SAIGAFL, I GET MY 14X1LH VORTEX'S AT PRIMARY ARMS IN PEARLAND, TEXAS $69.99 PER. YOU WANNA SEE FLAMETHROWER, PUT A 14X1LH '74 TYPE BRAKE ON THAT CENTURION WITH THE 11.3" BARREL. IT'LL PUT OUT ALMOST 3' OF FIRE ON EITHER SIDE, ABOUT 1 1/2' HIGH, THIS WITH BARNAUL AMMO. Ronin38 2,117
Yeah, the "muzzle device" that came with my 8.5" barrel AR pistol was more like a "flame enhancer!" I've since replaced it with a Troy Claymore "brake" and it's calmed down a bit. Or at least directed most of the blast forward so it's not so bad for everyone around me. Mullet Man 2,114
Supposedly the jet srvv is a solid design.
Matthew Hopkins 1,065
if this is a AKM, then I wouldn't go with any kind of flash hider, I would put on what a AKM is suppose to have; a slant muzzle brake. for a AK74 the elongated brake
Garys4598 1,065
If your pick isn't in the poll, what one do you like and why? Regardless of the firearm platform (i.e., AK, AR, etc.), it's my understanding that the B.E. Meyers series of flash hiders (not compensators, brakes, whatever other types or variants one would care to label a muzzle device as) are one of the most effective, period. (NOTE: I did not say "the best ever" or "thee most effective," etc.) Yet you do not have them listed?!?! I think you need to do a much more thorough job with your research. JonWienke 131
The Phantom has close-to-the-best flash suppression at a below-average price. It wins performance per $ cost pretty handily.
