Voltia 375
I want to shoot one of those things once, maybe one cylinder, but NOT in one second! Great case of an older gent having so much skill he can handle such things with aplomb and not injure himself like a young moron would.

redfish28 50
I have shot the 500 many times. It is a joy to shoot and recoil is not bad at all. I have shot several 357 mags that hurt my hand way worse. Love the 500.
Sim_Player 1,939
I thought my S&W .44 Mag was brutal.
XD45 7,124
I'm a subscriber to his channel. His vids are cool but tend to be repetitive. Look how fast I can shoot this gun. Now look how fast I can shoot this gun.
Mullet Man 2,114
Light(er) hand loads? He has an AR vs. AK vid too.

He knew about the risk and chose to keep going.
Sim_Player 1,939
It was entertaining.
Big John! 2,062
I haven't shot a 500 yet, but wouldn't hesitate to give this a try.

Remek 771
He's not a woosey, his forearms have muscle running through it that look like steel cables.
Mullet Man 2,114
Well, he is a competition shooter and comp shooters routinely load light. I didn't watch the video.
Bigtwin 219
Jerry is a crazy awesome shooter. He has many records under his belt! That said I have shot the 500 S&W two times. I do not care to do so any more than that! Not because of the recoil (that was not as bad as I was expecting) but because of the size of the frame of the gun. I had a hard time with getting my fingers to properly reach the trigger. I had to pull the hammer back to comfortably reach the trigger and have a firm grip on the pistol. BigChongus 765
My friend posted a video of himself dual wielding them a while back. He moved quite a bit on each shot.
JaredC 23
The 500 is a blast. I got to shoot one once. If you are a gun nut you need to shoot one at least once. It really is more intimidating than anything else. The recoil isn't THAT terrible, but the comp on it makes it brutal to be anywhere behind or next to the shooter. Sim_Player 1,939
That much power in a handgun seems like a waste of powder. For most of us, it's a novelty. Edited January 9, 2014 by Sim_Player

Eric Pate 478
Did you know that limp-wristing (don't even know if that term applies to .500!) a S&W 500 can cause it to bump fire? Scaaaaa-ry!

I would assume the process of 'killing nerves' would be awfully painful, but hes a big boy and shooting is his bread and butter. I wonder how his shooting hand feels every morning when he gets out of bed.
gunfun 3,931
I'm guessing arthritis isn't making it easier, but he talked about the dead nerves as if it were an advantage. I think he's popular because he comes across enthusiastic and friendly. A lot more people know his name than Rob Leatham for example, and I think that just comes down to demeanor. (not saying anything bad about Leatham) One thing I like about Miculek is that he is pretty small in addition to being older. His vision is going and he is not young, but he still does well. Pretty much all the other top shooters are around 6'3" and have hands that make their STI comp guns look tiny. It's nice to see that someone with hands about the same size as mine can have a chance. uzitiger 193
The S&W .500 makes a .44 magnum look like a .22LR next to it.
