EAA witness 45 full size steel

Recommended Posts

I saw one of these in the gun shop the other day and really liked it, it is basically just a cz 75 copy but made in italy. Has a much smaller grip than its cousin the cz 97b. I would not mind a 1911 but to find a decent one that will work with the hollow points I like is going to be spendy. The witness steel models seem to get good praise and mags and parts are reasonably priced. Anyone have one or had one?

any other reccommendations for a person with medium smallish hands other than a cz clone or a 1911.

I saw the hunter and if I had the money, yes I would be buying that but I dont, but they are bad ass. I would like to find an elite match in 45 acp but they are out of stock everywhere, plus I would like the da/sa instead of sao.

These pistols dont seem to be common over here but they do get good reviews and are very popular for competition in europe, they also seem to represent good value for the money.

I have a Baby Eagle .45 I like a lot (older all steel model), it's a CZ clone the same as the EAA Witness (same mags too).

Kind of large and heavy for a CCW, but it's perfect for home defense.

Reliable, accurate, and very comfortable to hold and shoot.

I also like that it's DA/SA with the decocker.

I had the Baby Eagle and a Taurus .45 for a range trip with my brother and his wife, they shot the Taurus first

and then went to the Baby Eagle. They both said, "Oh, much better than the first one".

I've got 2.  A compact frame in 45 and a full size in 10mm, only complaints I have are the crap magazine spring and extra weak recoil spring that come with the full size frames.  That is easily remedied with new springs from Wolff Gun Springs.

I have no complaints about my compact 45, I like it a lot and would recommend them.

Yep EAA is out, I cant find 100% what I want and the new large frame makes it feel like a cz 97b than the cz 75 like the small frame witness 45 acp. I might just suck it up and get a glock 30 gen 4, its a brick but it does everything ok. I would like a 1911 but dan wesson is my minimum, unfortunately my wallet does not agree( got hit hard for the wifes student loans) just my personal preference though if I was going to buy one that would be my pick, then again I would never spend 1400 on a single stack handgun, period. Can buy a really nice rifle for that, mags and ammo.

Thats why I an thinking glock 30 gen 4 with 10mm conversion for woods backup. Already have dies and everything, sold my G20 to my dad as he has hands that fit the full size frame better than mine, I could reach it but just barely on the trigger safety, was still accurate with it despite this. The witness is still an option but the small frame seems discontinued and large is all there is now.

I actually daily carry a 19 right now, it is good that

I could use the same holster, the 30s is not 10mm compatable, I can deal with the extra width of a 30 gen 4 for that alone.

At some point though I am going to have to get a summer carry gun, maybe a sig 938 or something like that. Also hoping glock follows up with a g42 9mm for deep concealment.

Why change for summer? I carry the G19 all year round. Im 6ft and 170 lbs and wear form fitting clothes, t-shirt and jeans, and I can still conceal a G17/G19, 1911 and vertually any FS-compact double stack gun. Good gun belt and a quality holster that spreads out the gun's lines is all thats needed. Of cource a t-shirt thats just a little bit bigger

Glock 30S. Its the 30SF wit hthe 36 slide. Makes it ALMOST the thickness of the 19. If you run leather holsters there is enough give that the 30S will fit into a G19 holster. Not so with kydex.

I'm also looking at the 30S.

It's going to be either that, or the XD Compact 45 3.8.

Both about the same size and about as small as you can go on a 10rd .45.

Both should also be ok for small/medium hands.

The xdm is better in the hands but it is a chunky little pistol from the slide up, The 30s is nice as well but would like it with the gen4 frame. At least mags are reasonable for both, sig 220 factory mags are 40 dollars or more and usp 45 mags are 80 dollars or more.

HK USP? or HK45? Ther eis a differance.

USP full size 12 rounds $60 CDNN. Same price on HK45 mags. I realize that thats still not cheap but its $20 less. I cant believe Im justifying it. Ive become a HK fan boy. They are great guns though

The usp 45 mags are absolutely ridicoulous, I have no doubt it is a great gun, but 60 dollars for a 12 round magazine is retarded. I think the regular hk 45 mags are about 35 to 40 but it makes hoarding 10 mags or so an expensive option. At least with the glock the aftermarket is there that you can find any part you are looking for, in fact I usually buy the wolf 10% xp springs as back ups should my glock springs wear out, I still have yet to do that even on my oldest mags. I am a cheap ass I know but when it comes to handguns I just dont ever see myself spending 600 or more on a handgun, anothere ak on the other hand it is always worth every penny as long it has the original reciever and chrome lined hammer forged barrel.

I am not trying to bash H&K, I have no experience with them but they really seem to like the smell of there own shit based on there prices, and there customer service reputation is not very high, much like EAA armory and there subsidiaries. Thats why I am feeling like the glock is the best choice, it is not the most comfortable in my hand, but it is affordable for the gun and accessories, it is reliable, and they have excellent customer service and I shoot fairly well with them as long as I can get the booger hook around the trigger which is only a problem with full frame gen 3 10mm and 45 models.

Handgun magazines are so expensive that I no longer care about 25 dollar ak 5.45 magazines, it is a steal compared to what people pay for damn

handgun magazines.

Glock is an excellent choice, I have a few and my daily carry is a 19. That being said I kinda fell into HKs when I found a good deal on a USP9 ex police. Came with LEM trigger, night sights, 2 18 round mags and HK light for $475. After that Ive been buying them when I run into a good price. Around Holloween I grabed a used HK P2000 .40 with 6 loaded mags for $599. And on new years I got another Police trade USP 40.These mags are not expansive. all 3 are around $35ea. With them you really do get what you pay for and thats why they seen to like the smell of their own shit. Because they know their stuff is well engineered and well thought out. Yes their marked is LEO/Gov agancies, us Civilians are an afterthought but the plus side is that they were designed with the military in mind, making them rugged guns. I look at them as the BMW/Mercedes of guns. You dont see many cheep Beemers and for a reason. Anyway, now that Im done sounding like a spokesman you really should try them, you will see what youre paying for. My p2000 in .40 has recoil of a underpowered 9mm. It has a unique recoil system that just absorbs that high pressure 40 recoil like nothing else. I had a Glock in 40 and sold it cause I couldnt shoot it. The USP 40 is fine but still there is some snap to it and I have to take a second or two to find the sights. In the P2000 I can shoot it like a 9mm 1911

I would love a sig 229 in 40, it was like butter on the recoil I was shocked when I first shot it based on my experience with glock 40 calibers which I also find unshootable for longer than 150 rounds, I had to grip the piss out of the gun to keep it from riding up during rapid fire. I did find used usp 45 with 2 mags and a box for 559 + tax, while that is better than new it is on the range of a brand spanking new g30 gen 4. I do like the H&K grip though, the ppq M2 is my favorite but it does not come in a 45 and nothing will replace the g19
