So Low 2 13
Anyone know if the Bulgarian 5.56 bullet guide on the K-Var website would be compatible with a Saiga? It looks like it would guide a bit better than the Russian version.
mancat 2,368
Well to start, you also need a flat trunnion Saiga for it to even fit in the rifle at all. You would have to chop it up quite a bit for it to work: the bolt camming surface on the left side of the guide would have to be removed, as it will interfere with the camming rivet in the Saiga trunnion. Even if you do mod the guide enough to fit, it may protrude slightly more into the magwell, as the Bulgarian chamber is a short-lug design, and I believe it protrudes into the receiver a smaller distance than the Saiga chamber does. In other words it's not worth the effort at all when compared to a CSS or Dinzag bullet guide of the appropriate type. Edited February 26, 2014 by mancat
thebuns1 4,323
The performance gain will be debatable, but like stated the work to get it in and functioning properly wouldn't be worth the effort. I'd rather use the dinzag guide rather than modify one to work based on looks. Its cheaper too, and comes with a tap and bit to boot.
