Facebook may DROP all gun-themed pages.

Recommended Posts

Want to guess why they're considering this idiocy?

http://venturebeat.com/2014/03/03/facebook-to-announce-policy-changes-on-gun-themed-pages-exclusive/

The social network has been under pressure from the powerful Mayors Against Illegal Guns and the Moms Demand Action civic group to ban gun-themed fan pages on the site.

I know a lot of folks here don't like FB, but it's still a question of supporting our rights to free speech and our Second Amendment!

I guess all the pro freedom posts and info on there is starting to piss certain people off. Good. Let them shut down the pages. FB sucks anyway. I only really get on to promote links to freedoms and share gun porn. No sweat off my nuts.

Well if they do, it ain't perfect but it is an alternative to facebook.

I don't consider myself a tea party member, I just know the site exists.  They are a pretty nice group of people though, I give them that.

I do consider myself as a Constitutional Fundamentalist though.

I had a myface, or spacebook or whatever it's called.  Didn't take long to figure out it was just another data mining operation.

If the idiots at Mayors Against Constitutional Rights or Moms Demand Enslavement weren't such idiots they'd realize that social media is the best way to keep track of those that support freedom.

Let them try. Then collectively sue them for violating your 1st amendment rights in favor of someone else's.

I don't agree with the FB stance on guns but it is a business. A business has a right to evoke certain restrictions as long as it's with in the law. It's no different than a restaurant posting a no concealed carry sign on the front door. You have a right not to use it...I don't like what goes on @ FB therefore I don't go to FB never have never will, fuck em! If enough people disagree with their rules someone in the industry will create an alternative. That's the great thing about a free market system.

Facebook may, and indeed does suck but they cant violate your 1st or 2nd A rights. Only the Gov can do that. And technically they wouldnt even violate your 2A. They didnt say YOU cant keep or bear arms. They just dont want it in their "house" Yes it sucks but you can still buy all the guns you want. I never used facebook because I just had no reason to. Everyone I know I keep in touch via phone or txt msg in real time. And I never had a need to post random crap to random people. And the way its going I wont need to

While I don't like it, the only option I would have is to "deactivate" my account

Its their ball and their court.

You still have local newspapers, craigslist, forums, etc

Or the dreaded gun shows! Oh the humanity!

I have no sympathy for those who are about have their FB accounts closed due to having fire arms there because FB think you might be selling them.

If you have a FB account, you deserve a lot worse.

They should actually close down motor vehicle pages too, those are the #9 most deaths in the USA.

It's been pointed out many times but obviously can't be said enough.

You cannot have a right that places obligations on others.

Therefore my right to keep and bear arms and my right to free speech place no obligations on facebook to accommodate me.

We have no more right to demand facebook allow gun posts than "those people" have to come here and demand this site NOT talk about guns.

Facebook is free to ban gun posts, and you're free to not use it.  I strongly suggest you excercise that freedom.

Oh the price we pay for freedom. The libtards only want freedom when it helps them advance their various agendas, true freedom can be very inconvenient. I think the above statement is very well put, short and straight to the inconvenient point, thanks Darth.

I think we should make it as "inconvenient" for the Lib's as possible, not just bow to their wishes and quit using FB. That is what they want!

I do like FB for the gun-groups I'm on, and it's easier to keep in touch with friends and family who live far away. The only people on my "Friends" list are people I actually know.  ;)

They recently made a state Gov. veto a fuken bill, this little shit that runs this FB is nothing. I agree that you should fight for what you believe in, but it doesn't change the facts of the principals of freedom. My .02
