scattergun10 125
I know alot of people refinish their Saigas when they convert them due to the fact that the parkerized factory finish scratches/scuffs rather easily. I was wondering how many refinish the barrel, gas tube/block,etc.in additon to the receiver and what type of finish they use. I've read that some finishes can chip/peel on barrels if they get hot enough.
Maxwelhse 1,285
Parkerized? It's an AK... When it gets scuffed hit it with a rattle can so it doesn't rust.
poolingmyignorance 2,191
Matt black barbeque paint matches the barrel finish well. Just lightly scuff it with scotch brite in a centrifugal motion after it dries completely to make it match the machine texture of the barrel. The barbeque pain however doesn't match the color of the receiver all that will when applied to a smooth or flat surface. Other wise spend the coin and do a real firearms coating. If quality is a big concern
mancat 2,368
Duplicolor #DE1634 High-heat, solvent-resistant, cures hard and matches the factory paint closely enough to simply spray over. Edited March 19, 2014 by mancat
gunfun 3,931
The last post was the right post. BBQ paint comes off with solvents and doesn't match as well.
