Way Better Than Bumping. The Tac-Con 3MR Trigger

Recommended Posts

Just came across this.  If I wanted a legal fast-firing rifle, this would be it.  A bit pricey at $495 msrp but then again, you'll go though hundreds of dollars in ammo pretty fast so cheapskates don't want this anyway.  I'm definitely a cheapskate so won't be getting one.

Yeah, how many thousands of rounds of ammo did he go through to get that good?  I'm figuring he spent a bit more than $500 getting that fast.

It's good salesmanship to show a professional using your gear in ways that no normal person ever will.  I can post a video of JM shooting a revolver just about that fast.

Geissele makes great triggers.  Maybe the best.  But it's still just a crisp single stage trigger with a short reset.  Nothing new about that.

Now maybe the Tac Con is a gimmick.  I don't know.  But the concept for assisted reset is new and interesting.

In todays market when you can get an entry ar for Around 500 not many people are willing to go that far for a trigger, But a lot of people spend 350 km a bump fire stock, so who knows.

no way  would I spend that kind of stupid money they're asking for on those triggers, or a stock.

if I want to shoot fast, I'll just pull and release a regular trigger fast.  the kind of money they're asking for those gizmos  would be better spent on ammo

Evl was trying to sell me on one for the same reasons, and I had roughly the same thoughts. I looked at closeup pictures of the trigger. It is their standard model with a slight alteration to two grinds. basically single stage with small engagement surface. The. obvious. things. anyone. doing. a .fine. race. trigger. would. do.

I'm sure it is a fine trigger, but big upcharge for those changes. I also doubt it is significantly finer than other short reset triggers on the market, or those with a small amount of stoning to change the slip angle a half a degree or so.

And the company makes a huge point of saying these are for comp only, and too fine for duty type carry...

From experience with finer paintball triggers with zero recoil I can say that the vast majority of people with no practice can pull 5-6 shots/ second (not "walking"). with skill maybe 7. I'm probably in the 7-8 range with just my middle finger, and 16+ walking. I probably have hit spikes of ~18 cps for one second intervals, but I would say my cruising speed is 14-15 BPS and over the course of an average day of play, the gun will generally clock over 16 a few times. (bounce free, and with ultra low reciprocating mass) I'm well faster than the average regular player will achieve, and a little slower than the fastest. There have been many many competitions of people recording the fast they can do with triggers that have magnetic reset and a softer shorter throw than a mouse click and that's about what people get. So while there are exceptional individuals, they are clearly outliers.  My point here is that even with triggers far better than the best firearm, that would be considered unsafe on any firearm, people trying purely for speed all seem to fall in the same band of capability.

p.s. with a very fine mechanical PB gun with a double finger trigger that could almost be approached with a very fine rifle trigger in feel, I can do 11-12 if I concentrate. Not guaranteed every time, but I can do it. Quite a lot of people claim it is impossible to walk a gun of that type, and it is a touch better than the best firearm triggers are likely to get.

Nice and fun if one can $afford$ it, which I can not. Does Colt Industries sell a Gatling Gun in .45-70? Now that would be fun ... but also expensive! Way back when, I had a short term, part time job assembling Calico Twin Ruger 10-22 Kits that used a hand crank. It was fun, but now also would be ... too expensive.

they made an ak gatling kit as well. seen a m14 version at the gun show once. even on a ruger, that thing would crank out the lead.

I saw a couple .45-70 gatling guns at Knob Creek, they were about $45,000. Very good looking guns though, polished brass receivers, polished and blued octagon barrels.

The Calico was very fun. This was way back when they had their factory on East 21st St. in the shitty city of Bakersfield CA. They also had a twin M1 Carbine model. Hand crank. I got to see but not assemble nor shoot the prototype mock up QUAD Ruger 10-22 Calico Gatling gun.

There were also rumors of a QUAD M1 Carbine model as well, but I never saw that. At about this time the "Powers That Be" in and around Bakersfield CA and the Kommiefornika state of CA did not want Calico doing what they were doing. Not politically correct or something? Yep!

This would be about the time the semi and select fire Calico helical feed 9mm model carbines and pistols came on line. They also had a semi auto .22rf carbine and pistol. Long ago and far away. I wonder if the big Gatling Gun guys hand load? smile.pngsmile.png HB of CJ (old coot) Happy New Year.

Got to go. Party time. Stay safe, stay sober!! Have fun!! smile.png

why are people so obsessed with puking mags as fast as possible?

I can see fast split times and transitions between targets all precisely aimed.

But just burning ammo into nothing seems goofy

I am definitely not interested in simply puking mags out as fast as I can. I am, however, interested in getting things that may end up on the atf's naughty list before they get there. I seriously have only bumpfired an ak once and saw it as a waste of ammo as well, particularly due to the lack of ability to aim. That being said, having a dedicated ak with that trigger pack in it would be kinda neat, especially if someone can aim with it and control how many rounds are being sent downrange.

E.t.a: the ar version looks to be better from what I watched, seems you can run it like normal and then flip the selector for the assisted reset. With the ak version you just get assisted reset.
