semper299 284
Anyone ever installed one of these? It comes with two different methods of installing the rivet. One is to deform the rivet head, the other is an internally threaded rivet. Just curious if anyone has installed one, how you like it, and how difficult it is. Sounds pretty straight forward. http://www.carolinashooterssupply.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=RAM%2DTACTICAL&CartID=

D.C.MORRISON 494
Yes, Have one installed on my Maadi.I like it. It was bitch to install. You will need an appropriate size punch.
semper299 284
Which install did you go with? The internally threaded rivet or the deformable rivet?
D.C.MORRISON 494
Threaded. Just seemed a better choice. Easier to switch if I didn't like it.
semper299 284
Ok good. That's the way I was planning on going. It gets here tomorrow so we will see how it goes. This is all my fault. I got in a hurry trimming the mag catch and took a hair too much off. Gun functions fine but the slop annoys the hell out of me. Its a $20 fix and I am fine with that. imarangemaster 315
I am not a gooh-gah, tacticool kinda guy, but I do like the Ram ambi- mag catch. It is an excellent piece of kit. I installed one on a 223 Saiga and a 7.62x39 Saiga when I lived in free America. It really rocked changing Galil 35 round Orlites on the 223! Lone Eagle 839
I have the CAA Tactical mag release on mine, and it's OK. After polishing the magwell a touch, my mags drop free with the push of a finger. Don't overtorque the set screws, as it will deform the plastic.
Inspector 12 37
I have been pondering which extended mag release I want to use on the pair of Saigas I will be converting soon. I have looked at the one the OP linked to but am really leaning toward this one: http://www.carolinashooterssupply.com/product_p/ram-esc.htm, I like the fact that this release offers the ability to reach it without shifting grip on the trigger hand while at the same time offering a good tab that a magazine could reach easily too. The link I posted is similar to the one I used on my S12 and I really like the fact that I can reach the release without shifting my hand much to release the mag.
