FredRepr650 0
I purchased a gas chamber from K-Var for my Saiga 5.45 conversion, the part arrived without paint. Is there any company out there that can paint this for me? I took it to a local shop and they said they only cerakote, I showed them my Saiga and they said the paint looked like a moley resin. I'd like my gun to match, on my 7.62 build the gas block doesn't match the rest of the gun, it has a glossy finish. Any suggestions? Thanks. Sim_Player 1,939
Go buy a can of Duplicolor 1634 (low gloss black) from an auto parts store. It matches the factory color really well and it's super easy. I've used it on three complete rifles. Good luck. Edited May 15, 2014 by Sim_Player
FredRepr650 0
Hey, thanks. Do I need to use any sort of primer? If so, which do you recommend? Do you have any pics of your guns? i'd love to see how they turned out.
mancat 2,368
No primer is needed, the steel on most military arms is typically rough enough for good bare steel paint adhesion.

FredRepr650 0
Btw, how many coats of paint will it need?
Sim_Player 1,939
Several is a good idea (2-3).
goldenpony 61
I used this paint converting my S-12 and it matched perfectly. I used a degreaser, let it dry and put 2 coats of the above paint. Can't tell it from factory.
paprotective 362
The DE1634 matches great IMO.. Heres a shot where I hit it with after cutting the 'sleeve' off my 762x39 Saiga for threading.. I only did the remaining 'sleeve' and front of the FSB.. matches great and its got ceramic in it.. so it should last..
