I'm ready to tune out. Life was simpler without it.

Technology will be a big part of the fall of this once great nation.  We can't put the toothpaste back in the tube, so we are going to have to go along for the ride.

We've come too far.  Personal relationships and conversations have been replaced by texts.  Family time, playing cards and what not, have been replaced with everyone going to their virtual worlds such as Saiga forumshaha.gif , video games, blah blah blah.  I'd prefer to go back to my younger days (if not even further back).  Life seemed so much easier before we got all of these bull shit gadgets that are supposed to make our lives easier.

Terminators and Cyberdyne Systems are no longer fiction.

Can you imagine watching the lost sheeples as they fumble around with no electronics?

It's hard for me to imagine what it would be like for those who grew up with an iphone in their hand.  They have never known a world without high speed internet, text messages, gps, laptops, 50" flat screens...  Their lives are built on gadgets and they can't comprehend a world without them.

The infrastructure that supports all of those things is just magic that has always been there and always will be.

Except it won't.  That infrastructure is fragile.  Natural and man-made forces can bring it down all too easily.

And there are far more important things than google maps that rely on that infrastructure.

To the op, I don't believe this can withstand the tidal wave of public outrage so I'm not going to get worked up about it until it actually happens.

I've heard a lot of people not pleased about this.

I pay extra for higher than normal internet speeds, so why do I need to pay extra for netflix for them to pay for higher speed to the people I already paid?

Why do we always have to harp on the people with the big flat screens. Some of us work with metal and old iron machines all day, and want a little tv to shut the brain off before bed.

I'm sure that many are too busy playing with their gadgets to pay attention to the fact that this is coming down the pike and will result in a big fat price increase for speed on their toys such as 4G phones and "high speed" internet for gaming, etc.  I won't pay for Comcast's high priced 105 mb service now based on price.  I run at 50 mb and it gets the job done including gaming for my son.  AT&T is much slower.

The proposal just plain stinks and needs to go away for good.

My son sent me a text and asked me if I had "evolved" to texting yet, after several minutes of poking around on my phone I was able to send him a message that read......"no keyboard here". My wife and I have a pretty basic plan, it includes texting, which she does have a keyboard phone for, but I don't care about it. If ya wanna talk to me, just call me, if you don't call me...well I understand.

It seems to me that the world was a saner, friendlier place before the internet.

I don't miss buying encyclopedias and atlas' ever couple of years...and phone books were good and bad.

I cancelled DirecTV because I despise paying for TV and still having to endure endless ads. I refuse to have any phone that does more than work as a phone and text. I also refuse to online bank and online bill pay. I still keep maps and gazateers and compasses in my truck and can use them.

If the internet wet away tomorrow, the only thing I'd miss would be the free porn. Oh - and this site...

If they have their way, we can expect heavy censorship and limited access. Which is exactly what they want. Its all about control and keeping track of us peons and what we're doing.

We all have our "technology-getting-off-point"

For my grand-parents, It was cable TV and cassette tapes.

For my parents, It was cable/satellite TV, CD's, the internet and cell phones (pre-smart phones).

For me - I am there. Actually, I was there 6 years ago. I understand the current technology

and can use it, but I chose not to. I am actually backing away from multimedia, GPS and

the internet. I once had a Myspace and Facebook account; but no more. I don't trust in the

privacy of these things and realize the weaknesses in the others.

"Social Networking" has the potential for "Social Control / Manipulation".

I am working to go "off the grid" as much as possible because I have no faith that current

technology is helping mankind.

I see it as a supply and demand thing . The pipe line is only so large and with the demand to stream more data like movies with more people on more devices some thing has to give.

When the price goes up demand will go down and a cheaper innovation will come about to appeal to consumers.

Not worried, it will get better and faster .Competition and demand always fuels better service.

In the 70's radio shack came out with the brick cell phone , now look what we have.

I see this as theft. Turning an entity paid for with tax dollars over to any corporation is wrong IMHO. This isn't about technology as it is about control and a vehicle to tax and raise revenue.
