Is there an 07 SOT Section

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I thought I had started this thread before but its not here, maybe I didn't hit submit or it was deleted? If it was deleted sorry for asking it again, if it was please let m know?

I am trying to do a post sample and have a few questions about doing one. Is there a place on here to speak of these for those of who are licensed 07 SOT holders?

If so please let me know.

Thanks

or point my in the right direction to someone who could lend me a hand with it?

For starters, you could provide the forum admin with your FFL license, pay the monthly fee to have a business membership and have access to the business members only section..

Then, maybe you could ask your competitors to give away their trade secrets...

Other than that, we don't allow discussion of illegal builds in an open forum...

Congrats of your FFL/SOT. Most know how to build BEFORE they get a license by attending training or apprenticing under a licensed builder..

Best of luck in your new enterprise....

easy tigers, thats why I asked... There actually are some talented SOT's on this board and its nice to bounce ideas off of other SOT's.  I was hoping one of them would have chipped in...

I will send the admin my SOT

Thanks

Not to mention, I'd bet money that you are well aware that your thread was deleted previously. I am a betting man, but giving the benefit of the doubt and going to say you are internet noob. But there are forums for sot out there. Maybe that would be the direction you need. Good luck making friends in the post sample world.

This guy sounds like a Fed trolling for entrapment busts.

If he is indeed a proper SOT, I would hope he would already know what he's doing, instead of criminally asking how to make MGs on an open forum.

Bro, that IS me being easy... 1st post asking for illegal info on an open forum usually gets their IP banned...

Technically, Juggs, it's not illegal info - there's no such thing as wrongthink, yet.

It's still perfectly legal to have and distribute the knowledge to do something that is illegal without proper licensing - it may look suspicious as all hell and get all the wrong people peering down your throat and up your asshole - but it's still legal. There are recipes all over the internet for explosives, poisons, even nuclear reactors - and one of the best places to find them is in the Patent Office database.

Copy that.. The info is not illegal.. but the end result could be.. still I'm supposed to eliminate such post. poor wording on my part.

Wasn't trying to jump down your throat.

Just love the First Amendment as much as the Second - and hate to see government regulation of the Second have a tangential effect on the exercise of the First.

the ATF doesn't give out test to see if you even know which end of the barrel the  bullet comes out of, let alone if you even know how to make a firearm

as long as you your check clears they will issue you a SOT to go with your FFL.

the problem becomes is people think that by getting a SOT they can make and play with MGs, for cheap for their own amusement. ATF has taken  a very dim view of that, if you aren't actively into the business, but see this is as a way of skirting around the law, they will get themselves in a bind the first time they get a compliance check form the ATF.

A lot of people do this, and some still get away with it.

I plan to get my license and SOT.

I have no plans whatsoever to manufacture machine guns. I'll be starting on a shoestring budget - and there is very, very rarely money in post samples for the little guys. Before I blow a bunch of money making stupid toys I can't keep and can't sell - I'll make a pile of short-barreled shotguns and rifles that will actually move. Only way I'd make a post-sample is if someone from an LE agency who actually has purchasing power expresses interest.

I could see myself purchasing a post-sample for reference if I wanted to design a semi-auto copy. But that kinds of crap is way down the road. Early on, it's going to be shortening break-action shotguns, swapping out trunnions on AK pistols, and equally inane, easy stuff that still results in a high-quality product.

Max is the owner/publisher of this forum, it's only his right to the 1st I'm concerned with here... he does not want the FA stuff posted, nuff said...

No doubt. This is a private forum, entitled to its own rules, regulations, and whim - the First Amendment reference was not a dig or a suggestion that you're censoring anyone. Rather, I find it frustrating and wrong that there is a completely valid reason for that policy - the presumption by the powers that be that any discussion of FA conversion must constitute intent to illegally construct.

Frankly, anyone with a basic understanding of mechanics and the opportunity to field strip a select-fire rifle and its semi-automatic equivalent can figure out how it works, with a few exceptions. Hell, an open bolt gun with a fixed firing pin is about the simplest repeating arm there is.

You're doing your job, not being a jerk. In your position I'd be doing the same thing.

you do know according to the atf a shoestring could be a machinegun, right? haha
