David Mark 2,452
3/8" steel plate at 100 yards. Privi 7.62 X 54R soft point. Went through it like a hot knife through butter. Note the circled hole. Pristine steel in that spot so its not like the other penetrations were because of the other round impacts from my AK which did not penetrate. Makes me want a Vepr even more. Also had a chance to try the Glock drum. Got a failure to feed on the last round. All others fed flawlessly. I think the follower has to work itself in a little. Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad's out there!
james lambert 3,059
55GR 223 does the same on 3/8 mild steel. I have IPSC targets (steel) on my range for pistol and shotgun slugs. Friends keep shooting them with 223 and other rifle rounds, they were not warned the targets were pistol only. From what I see on my targets, just about any rifle round will do this except 3030 win 32 win and several other cals that were pre smokeless powder calibers. I have welded up a bunch of holes..... All the dimples are from 7.62 X 39 that did not penetrate. Shot the .223 at another steel that also did not penetrate. Not sure if this is mild steel or something a little harder. They were made for me by a friend with a programmable cutting table.
