Need advice here---

Recommended Posts

I want to mount a B5 Systems Sopmod stock on my S12. I know I need an adapter which I am going to order from Rifle Dynamics. I know I will need a Mil Spec tube. What else do I need? I have seen references to a castle nut and some sort of "plate". What are these and where do I get them? Any recommendations for the buffer tube? I don't want any recoil reducing stuff. Just a good sturdy tactical stock

I didn't see anything there that would work with an AK style receiver. CSS parts are specially made for adapting to the the Saiga/AK receiver.

Your Saiga is NOT an AR15, thus the AR15 parts DO NOT BOLT ON.

I spoke with a customer service person at Rifle Dynamics. Their adapter used to not work on an S12 but they have redesigned it and he said now it will work fine on the Saiga. I assume that was what you were referring to.

I only buy parts for my Saiga's from forum business members, I know the parts will fit my guns. as they have been tried and tested already. But please feel free to spend your money wherever you wish, it is your money.

Leme try this once more, you will need to go to CSS website to view this part, as their images are copyrighted, http://www.carolinashooterssupply.com/product_p/css-ak-tube.htm. This buffer tube and receiver adaptor is all one piece, thus there is no "Castle Nut" needed. another advantage of this item is that you don't have to cut the "TANG" which is a retainer for the factory stock. They make this item in both Mil-spec and commercial size, your choice. I actually have the commercial size on my S-308 with the Magpul ACS stock. This combination is a good match for me and this rifle, as the cheek weld is solid and comfortable for me.

I must say that I do like the concept of the Rifle Dynamics adaptor, and I think there is a thread around here somewhere that folks were discussing it. I seem to recall someone talking about the ring breaking under pressure, but I could be wrong about that. As none of these parts are cheap, you should do plenty of research before dropping your cash.

Good luck with whichever choice you make cool.png

I can also vouch for the quality of the adaptor above from CSS. They are a quality piece and installed fit very well. I have helped a couple of friends build Saigas with these, and I was impressed. Just want to give you options.

I looked at the one piece part from CSS and they are very clever. I didn't realize that part combined the adapter and the tube. I am still sold on the adapter from RD. I am still mulling it over which way I will go. Thanks.
