The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday. If all of us “old farts” have all of the money, then let us try to elect someone who might be near honest and not be after feathering their own nests.

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk being delivered .A few even remember when cars, tractors and trucks were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and outdated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam . We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America ; we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America , and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America .

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies."

You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don't like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the 'Kool-Aid.' Now you're paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.

This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don't worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2014 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in 2014 we're going to the polls by the millions.

This land does not belong to the man in the White House, nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Grey-Haired Brigade."

Can you feel the ground shaking??? It's not an earthquake, it is a STAMPEDE.

Not exactly sure what you meant by that, Stryker. But I do agree with 1 point, I have not only grandchildren, but great-grandchildren as well. And yes, I do consider them my greatest wealth. As to my other possessions, well, they are mine now, and I do not owe anyone anything for them. Not my house, my truck, my 2 cars, nor anything else. I hope you are able to say the same someday.

Being a Boomer I refuse to romanticize my generation as the previous did with that "greatest generation" fluff.

People did as the individual thought best. Nothing more nothing less. To each his own accolades or regrets, it is not a thing that can be shared by time of birth.

Try not paying taxes on your land and see who really owns it. Same with registration and license on your car. It's basically rented from the kingdom. You are allowed to maintain it. I own my home on a certificate of title. I own cars on a certificate of title. All are paid off. If I don't pay taxes or register them, there will be a sherrif sale on my vehicles and the home will be confiscated by the queen.

Put nothing in your name. You don't want to own anything, just control it.

My most valuable true posessions the government thinks they may have a right to interfere with, and they don't, is my two children, given to me by G-d and created by my blood and a holy tie to my wife's blood.

The only thing worth killing over.

I hope they will bless me with grandchildren and great grandchildren like you have some day. You are a very rich man, even without material posessions.

Colossians 3:17

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

They were called the greatest generation.

Because they were!

The boomers are just the spoiled kids that resulted from the survival of our nation

Not to get into a pissing match but exactly who raised the boomers?

The socialization of this land far pre-dated their birth.

There is lot that can be charged against each generation, but like I said we are a species of individuals and collectivizing in any fashion is flawed.

As my parents share the blame with myself and others for my own shortcomings I too have a part in my child’s. That said I have no shame only pride in my son for he and his descendents are the only legacy I’ll have. As he gets older we’re both learning the other one isn’t really the dumbest person on the planet.

There were a lot of those older then 65 that went full stupid and still tot that line. I know many my age and younger but not as many as the older crowd that went full stupid.

Me being in my low 30's I've spent the last 10 yes stagnated in wages trying to work my way up to a better place.

Told get an education and work and you will make such and such in short time and this was by those now 50plus. What am I doing, what any high school kid can do with minimal training but they require a college degree.

I'm making 30k now the highest I've made. All want experience but how can you get experience if you can't get into the field you studied hard for paying x$ for, that I'll be paying for until my son graduates high school.

What's even worse is that many that went full stupid won't use the government assistance they voted for. He'll I know one that didn't sign up for ocommiecare and is bitching about getting a job with health insurance.

Honestly those that went full stupid have no idea what is or has changed and still March that the line it's good for others.

I've been unemployed used that benefit as I pay into that system. I've been on welfare as a child, my mom used that system to better our family and got educated and a good paying job and off that system.

It's a stepping stone or helping hand up to move on and better not this life long tit sucking.

Old people vote more. Who do you think put this bunch in charge?

Gimme 5x more entitlements than I paid in for, it's my right. increase the benefits of every program my generation set up. No I ain't going to save. I am going to buy an RV and spend it on cable. You can figure out how to pay for my convalescence after I spend it all. Pay my massive pension I set up, well in excess of what could possibly be sustainable. Never mind that the people paying probably aren't even eligible for the same benefits themselves. Never mind that my farm exists on subsidies or that the house I bought was backed with government debt that you are paying off the interest on the interest, almost. Never mind that AARP is the primary organization that made Obamacare happen...

They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.” -- Socrates

Of course you must realize that even Obama is within throwing distance of retirement age.

Face it, this country has been screwed up for a long, long time. There's just too much shit stacked on top of other piles of shit to ignore it any more.

I agree with GunFun; your generation can talk the talk, but many of you will be just as likely to demand more and more social security and other benefits, not having done the work of actually setting themselves up for retirement. Many of you still live on fat corporate pensions that none of us will ever see again (pensions are dead, worthless low-rate matching 401Ks are in).

Many of your generation point to the 1960s as a point of failure in the American society and system of government. Who exactly was in charge in the 1960s? Teenagers?

I would admit that by and large, my generation is much more worthless than yours, by magnitudes. You simply don't get to pretend that your generation is not culpable in any way for where we are today.

Greatest generation fought WWII and Korea. Baby boomers fought Vietnam. Different generations.

Let's not romanticize the giant mess the baby boomers created with memories of what their parents accomplished.

The boomers were given the world in the 50s, and had wrecked it by the 70s. Their efforts at finally calming down in

the 80s and raising a family created bleak suburban sterile hells and divorce rates greater than anything ever known.

Their children, raised on a mantra of "you are special," know no work ethic, but it wouldn't matter if they did, because

the jobs that were promised if one went to school and in debt for X field just aren't there. Those kids are scaling back,

those that have jobs hold onto them; family is delayed due to lack of finances, and any thought of marriage is tossed

aside due to the lack of value their parents placed in it in favor of a new, hook-up culture where you meet a girl, entice

her into bed, then dismiss her for being easy.

Considering my generation's grandparents won the world for their kids, then gave it to them, and their kids wound up

having it too easy and trying to have the world and then failing, it's no wonder my generation, and I use that term loosely,

being just older than "the millenials" (which is a freaking gay term for a generation) are not even trying. How can you

expect a young adult these days to care about family and anything other than himself when half of us come from divorced

homes? My folks didn't divorce till I was in my late 20s, and it still tears me up; I can't even imagine what that would do to a

five year old. When there's even a song called 'Stay together for the kids,' you know something's desperately wrong.
