Hey Guys:

AK Monty's post reminded me to finally ask all of you for opinions about my 1911 .45 ACP. I've had a High Standard 1911 for several years and I've been very satisfied with it. It's been reliable as long as you don't get stupid and try to Hollywood rapid fire it.

The interesting thing is I previously owned a "regular" parkerized Springfield 1911 (that I gave to a friend who joined the Marines) which was more expensive. However, I've experienced tighter groups with this High Standard 1911. The majority of the time I shoot Winchester 230 gr. FMJs. Lots of Federal ammo too.

Anyway, I just wonder what is High Standard's reputation. If it's bad, then I got lucky with my purchase. If it's good, then I simply chose a good pistol designed for my simple purpose - to shoot. I told the guy at my LGS I didn't need some fancy competition pistol.

Thanks.

They're fine, pretty straightforward 1911s made in the Phillipines iirc.

I had one for a while, sold it to a buddy who turned it into an SBR. I had no complaints, aside from my general dislike of the iron sights on a 1911. It ate everything I fed it, including hollow points, without a hiccup.

SHANDLANOS,

A 1911 SBR, I'D LIKE TO SEE SOME PICS OF THAT.
