RobRez 1,895
Just finished up my half doors. I have no door latch, so We made it a push button/rod that fits right into the window channel. I kept the window frame, so that I can have snap on windows made for them. Still need to grind down welds and make things a little cleaner, but they are on!! We even got snow today to celebrate! Canvas softopper and half doors in Montana......Zionks!

RobRez 1,895
Quick camo on doors before it snowed again. 37 degrees is plenty warm for half doors in my book!

VR762Shooter 838
On top of the sweet rig these pictures are just incredible. The department of tourism should be paying you for some of those pics. Makes me want to move out that way, just beautiful
RobRez 1,895
Well, a lot has developed since my last post. I have skins being made for the half doors: a 2 piece set up, Black Cardura on bottom, and clear vinyl up top. I am also re-doing my whole suspension. Installing a high steer kit, all new leaf springs with rears from a newer model Tacoma pick up truck, Fox racing shocks, and this will result in a 4" lift and way more axel travel upward and downward. My front axel will be relocated an inch and a half foreward, so an extended front driveline as well. I also installed a sweet original analog altimeter with inclination indicators !

RobRez 1,895
I got the door panels finished today. Great for rainy days and cold late night drives home from the trails.
RobRez 1,895
Progress continues.....What is a 3" lift sure is looking more like 7" to me. Added the front truss to the axle. Also a little rub for the Jeepers out there, a stock Jeep rear axle vs. a stock Toyota rear axle. I'll take the Yota please...
Capt Nemo 882
We need you in Washington!!! Lets hammer THREE or more in each!! better just make it 10,000 spikes, to be sure theres enough to go around!!!!! No! One each wrist and one for the legs! That truck's got some balls! RobRez 1,895
Put in the IFS steering box, and New/Old bucket seats from an old Toyota camper, so they look like Grandmas couch from 1980. They are in great shape though.
gunfun 3,931
You could get an upholsterer to do them in marine grade vinyl so that they are weatherproof.

RobRez 1,895
I've had friends tell me to put cup holders in my half doors......okay, here we go; #1 If you need a 4x4 rig, you don't need cup holders. #2 Is your hand broken? #3 You're not drinking your beer fast enough. If this list doesn't work for ya, git the F**k out and walk. Edited July 24, 2015 by RobRez
Capt Nemo 882
Gimbal mounted cup holders are what's needed. Remember, don't drink and drive! You might spill your beer!

RobRez 1,895
Chipping away at some details. Got the last 2 interior wood panels cut and stained, one looks curiously like Montana..... Cut out the ashtray, and put my oil and water gauges in its place. So from the top of the dash pic is, Altimeter/inclinometer, Vents, climate control, oil/water gauges, storage box made from license plates, shifters, and pistol holster. Also upgraded to new halogen head lamps with PIAA bulbs and mounting LED blinkers in the '87 style grill.
RobRez 1,895
Finally got the rear springs at the end of today!! Did a few more things to button up my interior, and stow my crap. Put an access hatch to the wooden panel that replaced my rear seats, and bolted in 2 ammo cans to store straps and fluids.......or ammo. Got my last 2 interior wood panels in place. I think ....THINK, I am 2 weekends away from being done with this part of the rebuild. Lockers will wait until next year.
gunfun 3,931
Do the PIAA bulbs live up to the hype? I was considering one for the bike.
RobRez 1,895
Haven't had it outside at night yet. Just got her rolling today, but the lights seem effin bright now. Rear springs mounted. Shocks next. Here is how she sits. Edited July 30, 2015 by RobRez
Long Shot 1,287
Looking good! The pia lights we put in my buddy's jeep were a huge improvement over factory. Probably double. Do the LED blinkers work with the stock flasher? We put LED break/tail lights in his jeep and now they no flashy. Apparently there's some sort of electronic flasher replacement to make it work. I'm having trouble making out the gun turret in that pic, where is it? Edited July 30, 2015 by Long Shot
G O B 3,516
You need a constant rate flasher - available from any place that hooks up trailer brakes. The standard flasher works on current, and flashes slowly or not at all when a bulb burns out so the driver will know the turn signals have a bulb out. Most vehicles also have the tail lights on the same fuse as the dash lights so you know that the tail lights have power.

The LEDs don't draw enough current to trip the flasher. It's odd the hazards still work correctly.
G O B 3,516
Emergency lights are different, some manufacturers use the same flasher for turn signals and emergency lights, and some use two flashers. If there is one flasher, it will draw twice the current on 4 way as it does on turn signals. If it has a separate flasher for 4 way, it may be a constant rate flasher - or NOT! 6500rpm 670
Very interested in how the LED bulbs work out with the old style headlamp lense. Off road won't be an issue but it may scatter the beam too much for street use? I can tell you the 6000K Aux lights off road are like looking at a HD tv and LED light bars throw off a nice large area of light. Good deal Rob.
