paprotective 362
I installed the new wood on my Saiga yesterday and notice it was a PITA to get mounted with the little front spring on the wood lower handguard pushing things forward.. Should I have trimmed that metal piece off with a Dremel to use with the CSS lower retainer as not to have so much forward PUSH on it?? Sample of lower HG and spring I'm referring to.. CSS lower retainer.. Here is my closeup of mine.. feels sturdy... just not sure.. Should I leave it be till it possibly pushes the CSS retainer or clip it now and be done?? Anyone have issues with this setup before me???? Edited August 8, 2014 by YWHIC
csspecs 1,987
If you remove the spring don't cut it, it just slides out the front of the hand guard. The spring is supposed to eliminate the wiggle that would normally exist in the AK hand guards.
Spacehog 2,218
The tension spring slides out (moving parallel with the front of the HG) I remove them on all the HGs using the CSS retainers. Not necessary to get them tight.
