Bauran 11
Just wanted to start out with congratulating the forum and all members in making such a comprehensive forum. Now before I ask my question please know I did search and and didnt see a question related to the stock mags, only aftermarket. I also saw the most common questions asked reference in "lots of new members" and mine wasn't there. That said I have what I can only assume is a commonish problem for aftermarket clips but not so much for the stock clips. I just purchased a converted Saiga (converted, quad rail, etc. lots of extras). But it was used, but I know for a fact the seller used it up to and "just" past break in. Now to the question/problem. It came with 2 original equipment 5 rd. magazines and I'm finding both are not pushing the next rd. High enough to feed or even have a hang up ftf. So it's really stuck just after the previous round was pushed into the magazine. I need to know if this is common, I know it can be an issue with promag but stock seems...wrong I need a diy idea it fix the issue. Again awesome job guys/gals on the forum. Been lurking well over a month prior to purchase and the well of knowledge is second to none. Thanks, Edited August 23, 2014 by Bauran
HighPlainsDrifter 466
Is this happening with other mags? Check and verify that the 5 rounders have not been modified.
gunfun 3,931
I have an oddball 5 rounder with SS or bare steel lips that does this a little. I got it in trade from someone here. It feeds fine, but the follower is sticky at the top when empty. Check for burrs in the follower or inside of the mag body. In my case, I think the mag body gets tight at the top. the old cure for this with mags was to soak the mag in a saucepan of near boiling water for a minute or so, then push a deep socket though to slightly widen it at the warped point for burs or casting defects, a little trimming, sanding or filing at the defects will cure things. Bauran 11
Great ideas all. I would say they aren't modified but I can't garuntee. However I will try the boiling water treatment to see if it helps. Funny thing is now that I asked the question I can't repeat the issue after 20 tries...so maybe just posting about it fixed it. Prior to that it was very other time I reloaded it with rounds and cycled it. Thanks again for info
