I own two Saiga 12's and a Saiga 7.62. I was given some direction as to how to basically highlight all of the Russian logos and text on the receiver. The gentleman from Cobra's Customs FaceBooked me instructions as to how to do this. He told me to use regular rubbing alcohol and liquid white-out. Dab some white-out on the area that you want painted..and then quickly wipe off the rest. What is left is a white inlay of paint..that is pretty durable. I will attempt to attach a pic of my receiver to show what i am talking about. I was wondering if anyone has already attempted this..? If so what method and materials were used. I still have a Saiga 12 that is not painted in this way..so if someone has a better way. Let me know and i will try it. Thanks! 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Something else I like to do on mine is use a fine tipped red Sharpie on the "F" for fire, after first painting it white like that. 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

ChileRelleno 7,071 Posted August 28, 2014 Report Share Posted August 28, 2014 I use Testors enamel (modeling paint).This method, done right, almost paints itself.Thoroughly clean & degrease the area.Use a good thinner, thin the paint till it has the viscosity of milk.Then using a micro-tip or very fine tip brush, pick up a drop of paint.Touch the tip into the rollmark (lettering), it should flow right into it and keep going.Repeat, touch tip into rollmark where paint stopped flowing, filling the rollmark completely.There should be very little to no mess.Let dry for a hour or two, then using a cleaning patch, use a little thinner to clean up. 3 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

However, the solid colors (eg. white, red, orange, ect.) do not seem to mind the #9. Too bad cause the gold looked really nice with dark earth furniture. I will try the red sharpie idea for "F"! Yeah to "KTM" ...LOL first nothing wrong with a 73 Corolia.. never had one..but these days they don't seem so bad when compared to some of the new crap on the compact market..lol. Im more the Muscle Car guy..but anything old is cool!.. Anyway "KTM" i get the point. I will be converting all three of my Saiga's. But I had to save enough just to buy them..I wanted to get one for every member of my family..so my goal was 6 shotguns and 6 rifles.. and I was slowly saving and buying when I could. I wasn't going to convert anything till I got all I needed. BUT the ban on these currently drove the price too far up for me. And buying a new one in the box is now out of the question. So now its time to face reality and start putting my money into converting the ones that I am lucky to own. The conversion options are almost endless.. Dinzag has a kit that makes the Shotgun fit the AK-47-74 furniture...gas tube and all! Looks involved but also looks the coolest (at least to me) when done right. Has anyone converted the Saiga 12 to this configuration? So to make this long story a bit longer..Yes "KTM" the highlighting on the receiver looks out of place... for now..lol 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

This thread got my gumption going. I went to the hobby shop and bought some testors enamel white and red and some spray paint that is supposedly impervious to most kinds of fuel/kerosene/gas etc. I want to screw around on my 22s before I go to the cool stuff.
