jwulf 179
Ebola...and what happens if it hooks up with the seemingly virulent enterovirus 68.... we could be in for a really nasty time if those 2 mutate together. No idea if it is possible, but if it is, the consequences will be biblical I fear.
vepr12x 89
This can prove to be a BIG problem here, the scientists that had gotten infected were experts and Im sure had proper ppe but became infected anyway. Theres no telling what ebola can do and mutation to a airborne strain could happen. They shouldve banned all flights from the hot zone, and anybody who has travelled to those areas quarintined for at least the known incubation period. Supposedly they have a "cure" or secret serum but how availible is it? Whats the success rate? How fast can they make it? Whos gonna pay for it? Im sure the ultra rich and elite will have access though. Dont forget obamas executive order allowing them to detain you indefinitely for any signs of respiratory illness. Have a simple cough? Might end up in a facility. Not to mention they could declare martial law if ebola becomes a epidemic in the u.s. Think "safe zone in pa". But dont worry the wide open borders arent a big deal. JESS1344 508
GUYS, "THE STAND" HAS ARRIVED, FOR FANS OF STEPHEN KING............ MAYBE THIS IS THE "ZOMBIE APOCOLYPSE" THAT WE'VE ALL BEEN BUYING UP AMMO FOR. THIS PERSON CAME OUT OF AFRICA, HOPPED THE ATLANTIC BY PLANE, AND WENDED THEIR WAY THROUGH HOWEVER MANY AIRPORTS, BEFORE COMING TO LIGHT IN DALLAS. UNLESS, OF COURSE, IT WAS A DIRECT FLIGHT, BUT EVEN SO, THE DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE, TRUST ME. FOR THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN AROUND HERE FOR A WHILE, YOU MAY RECALL THAT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, I POSITED THIS EXACT THING HAPPENING, AS A DIRECT ACTION TECHNIQUE BY JIHADI-TYPES, IE, SELF-INFECT WITH EBOLA, HOP THE ATLANTIC BY AIR, AND HAVE AN ITINERARY THAT TAKES YOU THROUGH 10 OR 15 MAJOR U.S. AIRPORTS, BEFORE CRASHING AND BURNING IN A BLOODY, PUKING, SHITTING, MESS, SOMEWHERE ON THE WEST COAST. I HAVEN'T AS YET HAD TIME TO READ ANY REPORTS ON THIS, SO, AT THIS POINT I'M UNABLE TO EVALUATE THIS FOR ANY POSSIBLE TERRORISM CONNECTIONS, OR IF IT'S AN OTHERWISE INNOCENT PARTY WHO ACQUIRED EBOLA WITH NON-HOSTILE INTENT. BUT BACK TO MY POSITED SCENARIO FROM THE PAST......... I WAS LAUGHED AT, POKED FUN AT, CALLED NAMES, AND EVEN HAD ONE, WHO SELF IDENTIFIED AS A SCIENTIST IN THE FIELD OF BIO-TECH OR VIROLOGY, PATIENTLY EXPLAIN HOW THE CHANCES OF THIS WERE VIRTUALLY NON-EXISTANT, ETC., ETC., BY EITHER A DIRECT TERRORIST ACTION, OR INNOCENTLY. I SEEM TO DIMLY RECALL THE USE OF THE PHRASE "TOO MANY SAFEGUARDS". I'M PREPARED TO MAGNANIMOUSLY ACCEPT YOUR APOLOGIES........... JESS1344
wdfaulk 0
Dont hold your breath Jess. Those types have an extra heaping portion of cognitive dissonance and calling people nuts is the only way they remain partially sane if utterly lacking in credibility. Got N95 masks, goggles, disposable latex gloves, and a few gallons of bleach? ... at a minimum.

Sim_Player 1,939
Apparently, all it has to do, is come in contact with your skin. The expert being interviewed said 10,000,000 of the organisms can fit in a drop of blood and it only takes ten to become infected. They are so small that it takes an electron microscope to see them. I hope the manufacture of a cure can outpace the infection. Say your prayers. This will used as a weapon, eventually. Edited October 1, 2014 by Sim_Player

sobrenegade 795
Back a few years, when there was tremendous flooding on the eastern seaboard, I remember in the news seeing thousand of pig carcasses floating in the Carolinas. We could have airlifted that over to the middle east and strategically struck fear into millions of terrorists and those that wanted to be. Logistically we had the ammunition, but you don't easily wash that smell away. I would have loved to have seen on the news just one of those lamb slammers getting a dead pig dropped on them. Probably wouldn't have worked but we do have a large feral hog population problem if anyone wants to go rogue.

JESS1344 508
SOBRENEGADE, WORD HAS IT, THAT BACK IN THE COWBOY DAYS, IF YOU CAUGHT A CATTLE RUSTLER, AND WANTED TO REALLY MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF THEM, OVER AND ABOVE JUST MERELY HANGING THEM, YOU KILLED AND SKINNED A POORLY COW, AND TIGHTLY SEWED THE RUSTLER UP IN THE SKIN. THUSLY ENCASED, YOU SET THE RUSTLER OUT IN THE HOT SUN, WHICH HAD THE EFFECT OF CAUSING THE HIDE TO SHRIVEL UP, SLOWLY CRUSHING THE BAD GUY, ANACONDA-LIKE. ONE WONDERS IF PIG HIDE HAS THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS.......... CATCH SOME JIHADI TYPES, SEW 'EM UP IN PIG HIDES, AND THROW 'EM IN THE TOWN SQUARE, AND LET THE MERCILESS MIDDLE-EAST SUN DO IT'S WORK. AS ADDED INSULT TO INJURY, ONCE THE HIDES HAVE DONE THEIR TERRIBLE WORK, AND YOU ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU DON'T KILL ALL YOUR HOGS, IT'S CHOW-TIME!! JIHADI FALLAFUL FOR THE PIGGIES! THAT'LL BE PUTTIN' A CRIMP IN OL' BAG-DADDY'S RECRUITING DRIVE! JESS1344

Shandlanos 1,470
Lots of panic over something that's unlikely to be a big deal here. It's pretty hard to catch ebola unless you regularly root around in strangers' bodily fluids. Yeah, mutation into an airborne form could happen - the same is true of HIV. It's probably more likely that you'll win two different lotteries tomorrow. The only people who are getting infected are those who are working with sick people or handling bodies. As for there being a cure - well, unless a lot more people get sick and survive, we don't really have a way to mass produce a serum yet - pretty sure the first batch was made from the blood of someone who survived ebola. We certainly have good treatments in the form of antiviral medications and supportive care - but not good enough to handle the sort of epidemic that is highly unlikely to happen in the US.
Rhodes1968 1,638
There is a difference between panic and concern. I am not seeing any panic I am seeing some concern and that is enough to motivate people to action, well the cautious ones at least. Wouldnt it be nice if we could believe a damned thing we are told in the "official" media... yep. So far that media and it's "experts" have been wrong on numerous rather critical points to date concerning this outbreak and it doesn't seem wise to buy into that kind of incompetence.
G O B 3,516
One of the reasons I bought land in Texas is that it is 40 miles away from any international airport and 20 miles from an interstate highway. International airports and interstate highways are the most likely vector for any pandemic.

SmilinEd 364
Is there a topic in which this country isn't totally fucked? Big John, Depends on what side fence your on, Barry and the gang including the Rino's believe the ship is on course. As far as the eye bleeder in Texas not being a problem, I have my concerns the professionals ability to contain the problem let alone the lower paid staff keeping things clean. "Hey you, mouth breather" take this bag of eye blood and shit to the incinerator and properly depose of it. "Mouth Breather" Why am I always the one handling the eye blood and shit bags let Harold do it , he just sitting there eating donuts picking his nose. Well you know how it ends. We just witnessed an employee behead a co-worker at a food processing plant, when do we have problems in the food chain. Hey, if you feel safe and think any precautions to protect your family are shrill, good for you.. But I believe there is an effort to cull the herd and everything that changes our way of life.

JESS1344 508
GUYS, UP TO 18 NOW, THAT THEY'RE ADMITTING, TO INCLUDE ONE THAT ALMOST SURELY HAS IT, DUE TO "CLOSE PERSONAL CONTACT". SEVERAL ARE SCHOOL CHILDREN, THE AMBULANCE CREW IS OFF THE JOB. THESE PEOPLE ARE "BEING MONITORED AT HOME". MONITORED AT FUCKING HOME, ARE YOU FUCKING SHITTING ME!! THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE CONFINED TO A LEVEL 4 CONTAINMENT FACILITY ASAP! IT'S THIS KIND OF MAD-DOG POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, COMBINED WITH MULTIPLE LAYERS OF COLLECTIVE INCOMPETENCE, THAT HAS PERMITTED EBOLA TO RUN WILD ACROSS THE CONTINENT, AND IT GETS PROGRESSIVELY WORSE BY THE DAY. THESE 18 HAD CONTACT WITH HOW MANY, WHO HAD CONTACT WITH HOW MANY, AND ON IT GOES. WE BETTER PRAY TO GOD THAT THIS STUFF HASN'T EVOLVED INTO BEING AIRBORNE, OR BEEN GENETICALLY MODIFIED BY THE HAND OF MAN, INTO SOMETHING FAR WORSE THAN IT ORIGINALLY WAS. MY COMMENTS ABOUT KEN ALIBEKOV, FROM A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, WHO WAS IN CHARGE OF THE SOVIET BIO-WAR PROGRAM, AT BIO-PREPERAT, COME TO MIND. THE SOVIETS WERE BUSY GENE SPLICING SOME PRETTY EXOTIC STUFF, TO GET THE COMBINED EFFECTS. WHEN ALIBEKOV FINALLY REALIZED THAT SOVIET EXCUSES (DEZINFORMATSIA) THAT THESE DEVILS SWILL BIO-AGENTS WERE NOT DEFENSIVE IN NATURE, GIVEN WHAT WAS BEING COOKED-UP, AND THE VAST QUANTITIES OF IT, HE MADE THE RIGHT CONTACTS, AND DEFECTED TO THE WEST. THAT BEING SAID, IF THIS STUFF HAS BEEN GENETICALLY DIDDLED, I DON'T THINK THE RUSSIANS WERE INVOLVED. THE POSSIBILITY OF GENETIC MODIFICATION IS BASED ON NOTHING MORE THAN MY OWN SPECULATION, AND NOTHING MORE. JESS1344
