bcmsaiga 8
..pinned on front sight block and gas block. so I would like to do the front end conversion to add the lower handguard retainer so i can run wood furniture. any advice on where to get the new gas block and front sight block, also since the stock ones are only pinned on can i hit them off with a rubber mallet and install the new ones the same way? BigChongus 765
Rifle Dynamics has the complete FSB. As far as getting the old ones off, it would be much easier to press them off or use a bearing puller to pull them off.
sharkforce 4
back when I did my conversion, a dremel worked fine for cutting off the FSB
JoeAK 337
You don't need to cut it if it's just pinned on. After I drilled the dimples on my FSB and GB, I used a vise and a brass punch.
bcmsaiga 8
can you go into more detail with that.
JoeAK 337
I had to redo the FSB on my 5.45 the other day, so I took a pic of how I do it. Remove the pins, or drill the dimples that hold it on, then put the barrel in a vise just loose enough that it doesn't actually grab. Then I heated the FSB a little bit with a propane torch and put the brass punch on the muzzle and gave it a few decent whacks. Not the ideal way to do it but it works. My muzzle crown is fine, and it's my most accurate saiga. (about 2" at 100 yards) Edited November 3, 2014 by JoeAK
