This was really nothing more than a "feel good" election. Lets see how good we really feel in 2 years.

Well I'm not going to just sit back a watch/hoping for the best..

The burden of good government falls on us, we are lazy and love to just bitch and moan/pointing fingers.

I like putting pressure on those who supposedly represent us either at the state capitol or DC. Whatever it takes lawfully...

Why even start this thread..

With that attitude I assume you are a non voter?

I vote every election, on issues ie. tax hikes, school levy tax hikes etc... I don't bother with the politicians, they're all the same, criminals in nice suits who are just out for themselves and their cronies

Constitutional issues take a back seat to school taxes/tax hikes.?

I wish I was that politically ambitious but I have really given up hope on it all. Damned if we do, Damned if we don't.

If someone like me actually had the power to make a difference on a national level

I would be all for it, but in reality, my vote and my words mean diddly squat.

Wasted time and effort for nothing. The MFers are still going to do what they want to do reguardless.

We the people have lost our power to be heard. JMO

What I have found is that all politicos are very thin skinned and loose sleep easily.!

Anything WORTHWHILE requires EFFORT...!

If we want good reps, locally/state/fed levels then I suggest taking a few actions

1. Make phone calls, no threats/talking crazy, present the facts

2. Talk to your rep in person, no threats/talking crazy, present the facts.

3. If you have a rep that doesn't want to listen to your concerns, take he/she to task, support the opposition with your time and money.. Or run against them yourself

4. RECRUIT like minded individuals and repeat above points.

nice sentiments, and in theory that is how it's suppose to work, but you know what they say about theories? looks good on paper but it doesn't work in the real world.  doing those things you are saying,  is  like pissing on yourself wearing dark pants, it will give you a warm feeling but nobody is going to notice or care.

want to know the secret on how to sway politicians to your way of thinking? it's been done since civilization first emerged thousands of years ago;  bribes. except now it's called a "campaign contribution"

I feel the same way sometimes so won't flame you and MH.

Even if the criminals are breaking the rules, I still think it's important to participate and play by the rules in good faith.

I think things would be far worse if everybody stayed home out of apathy for the fucked up system.

I voted and feel good that the "good guys" (relatively speaking) won.

It's very important that we tried our best beforehand if we ever have to use that last box in the "Four boxes of liberty".

Obutfuck will try shoving free immigration on us by fiat. That will be the time to call for a Continental Congress. The Federal Government serves at the pleasure of the States. We have a 2/3 majority in the States, and can redefine the Office of the President and CLEARLY define it's powers and limitations (NO 'executive privilege' to withhold incriminating documents). We can also address the powers and duties of the Courts.

call for a Continental Congress? 021.gif  dude, there hasn't been  a  Continental Congress since 1789, when the Constitution was ratified and our current form of government was instituted. Continental Congress,

I believe what you are trying to say is Constitutional Convention

I am struggling hard to remove myself from political discussions on the forum, but GOB nailed it here. The people do have power. I am tired of hearing all the complaints of everyone who runs for office is a crook, special interest money buys elections, and moaning about being tired of having to choose between the lesser of two evils. All of these arguments have some merit, and there are times that I fall victim to the attitude of hopelessness and anger that they tend to produce. With that said, there are good people who run for office because they are pissed at the state of things just like you and me. Everyone that says I am tired of voting for the lesser of two evils, I pose these questions, "Did you vote in your Primary?" The answer is almost always "no". So why are you complaining about the lack of quality options? For those who answered "yes", my next question is, "What did you do personally to help that person win?"

You see we all like to bitch when special interests and the media decide who our candidates will be to choose from. But in all honesty, it is because we are too lazy and self absorbed to get into the political process. We hold sacred the lives of our men and women in uniform that have laid down their lives for our freedom, yet we refuse to exercise the most basic freedoms and power that are granted to us by our Constitution. Our government is not broken because power has been taken, (which it has), but because, We the people are too apathetic to make sure we have the right people elected to begin with.

Now back to GOB's astute observation. Our founding fathers recognized and respected the power of the States in determining self government. Too many people think that the States are subservient to the Federal government. However, the State Legislatures can call a Constitutional Convention under Article V, (meaning that they can attempt to amend the Constitution and bypass the Federal Congress, President, and Supreme Court) with a 2/3rds majority of states calling for it. Proposed ammendments would have to be ratified by 3/4 of the States. This is the fail safe that still stands against power consolidating in major metropolitan areas. It makes our votes for our State legislatures and the character of those we choose even more important. So your vote does matter and you can make a difference. What are you going to do to change things?

Beat me to it MH, but to steal a line from "Battleship", the fact that you know that infuriates me. If you truly understand our Constitution and the power that it grants to us, then why do you linger in hopelessness, apathy, and cynicism? I am not busting your balls here, I truly do not understand the disconnect.

May be that the most important part of this election is blocking supreme court appointees .

My greatest thanks to those who possess the spine , respect and love of country to make the massive effort required to exercise the greatest right, privilege and duty a citizen can have.

The right brought to you, and preserved for you, paid for, with the blood of tens of thousands of real men and women .

Who apparently thought it was pretty important.

Also add...those who are newly elected, you had better start REPRESENTING those who elected you, instead of GOVERNING those who elected you just because you think you know better.

I agree, once they get to Washington they become part of the Beltway culture and become corrupted by it.

Senate takeover!
America has spoken, right into the President's and his cronies' faces!
But no time to party: restore the Republic from anti-American socialists and rotten GOP "establishment" as well.

All aboard!

Remember we have to keep the Republicans in check as well.  They have been at this shit for over a century.

The establishment Rs won't let the conservatives do a goddamn thing. They hate conservatives as much as the left does.

Establishment Rs don't want smaller gov. They just want to be in charge of the big government.

The establishment Rs are also progressives and the motherfuckers want a big government that they control. They tried to stop the Tea party candidates who are a threat to their power and party control. They want the GOP mean Party of Progressives.

I'm not celebrating.  I was glad the dumbocrats got their asses kicked.  That's never a bad thing.

But the Rs are not going to fix things.  The repub establishment only wants the power.  They don't want less government.  That would mean less power.

There are a few honest conservative Rs but the establishment hates them more than the dims do.

People used to call a big government republican a RINO, but that doesn't work any more.  The big government republicans ARE the republican party.  These days most repubs are CINOs cause they use the word conservative but they hate what it stands for.

I left the republican party and I won't go back to them unless they earn me back.

But when it comes down to it, the scumbag Rs are still the enemy of my enemy.  It's the dims that are trying to take my guns, letting in millions of illegals, tripling my healthcare costs, gutting our military, signing bullshit treaties about global warming that will double my energy costs, and on and on.

Truth in Advertising law should apply to politicians...

....better yet....they should remain under Oath to tell the entire truth the entire time they are in office, or campaigning.

...I know... dream on..

I also know and understand physics, the facts are;  just like I or anybody else  can't change the law of physics, changing the current state of politics by voting in one criminal over another, amounts to trying to change the law of physics

I'm glad I don't live in Lousy Anna.

There won't be any place to hide from the mud slinging.

Not as bad as may be thought here on several fronts, though it aint my top of the list place.

This thing should be all but done baring some miracle(curse?) so it is very muted at present.

Except the Constitution grants no rights.

I know it may seem like a minor point but it is the bedrock on which it was ratified.
