Cobra 76 two 2,677
I have a friend that just got a Sig .22 and the damn thing sucks! Did they really put their good name on this POS? Has anyone here had experience with these who can tell me what needs to be done to make it work? I already polished the feed ramp for him and pretty much all I saw online were people saying to lubricate the hammer face & rails, etc. Gotta be something more can be done... Gonna polish the rails, extractor, bolt face, & ejector and and hope that helps. Any tips from Sig owners?
Shandlanos 1,470
My experience with that piece of shit pistol was similar. The trigger fucking sucked and the one I had was insanely unreliable, though I've seen ones that ran well.I prefer the Walther P22, though having had a few now, and worn them out, I'm a little less fond. About 7k rounds and they start getting really rough. A Ruger Mk.1/2/3 doesn't even notice 7k rounds.
poolingmyignorance 2,191
All of heard is horror stories of that gun and one or two fan boys saying it was all lies. You want a good 22lr pistol spend the change and pick up a Colt Umarex.
SGL 530
No personal experience with them, but I do remember reading that the need CCI Stingers or other hot ammo to function properly.
read_the_wall 614
just like the Walther, you may have to try every brand of 22lr before you find one that runs well. Aquila ran well in a few....but not all..... I now have ruger sr 22's . Only running subsonic with cans. Works well but gets dirty fast.
Shandlanos 1,470
Do the SR22s come threaded from the factory?
Cobra 76 two 2,677
For my own .22 handguns it's only my Ruger super single six and the .22 conversion upper on my KImber .45. I have zero complaints with either. This POS should never have been made though IMO. I think I even saw somewhere that Sig farmed this shit out to some foreign company? read_the_wall 614
Do the SR22s come threaded from the factory? no, they did not http://www.twintechtactical.com/SR22TB.html with this http://www.silencerco.com/products/sparrow/
{ROS}_me 32
I don't own one , but helped a friend with his. 1# recoil spring , his came with 2 , the lighter spring seemed to help . 2# magazine we tried to adjust the way the round presented itself with some luck http://www.keepshooting.com/sig-mosquito-magazine.html makes a metal mag , might be worth a try . me
Cobra 76 two 2,677
So what I am getting from this is they are pretty much plagued with the same damn problem as the S-12. Too much friction in all the wrong places to be able to run as is, out of the box on all ammo. Except these are blowback so no way to actually add power to the stroke besides shooting higher powered loads like the CCI Stingers for example. Action feels damn smooth already so the spring & mag sound like great places to start. Almost seems like the mag itself is catching the bolt somehow because most of the jams happen without ever stripping the round. It only occasionally jams while going into battery, at least after polishing the feed ramp.
{ROS}_me 32
That round looks too high, and too far back , is sending it back to Sig an option? It almost looks like the mag. well is out of position . Really sad that Sig released this pistol ,I guess QC and having a name associated with quality products means less these days . I wish you luck getting it fixed . Not trying to sound disparaging but the fix my friend finally came to was trading the problem to someone else. me
WhiskeyMinion 300
My wife just had to have one in pink. As long as I keep her stocked in CCI MiniMags it runs like a champ. All other ammo is hit or miss. It seems to like the hotter loads. But MiniMags have run 100%.She don't shoot it much anymore though
ShadowFire 220
This is why I love my Ruger 22/45. I've heard some bad reports on the Mosquito. I need like 3 more mags for it but I'm happy with it.That Sig, looks like they're trying to aim it for the top of the chamber to funnel it in. Fine if you get it right but it's just easier to get the angle on the ramp right the first time. The ramp impo needs a more accute angle so that the top of the chamber isn't even needed, pretty much a straight shot in. DO NOT touch the chamber face there. On rimmed cartridges, that's where your headspacing comes from. Bad mojo to mess with it too much. lol
