DIA: North Korea Planned Attacks on US Nuclear Plants

Recommended Posts

China would probably be a bit worried as they're downrange from the nukes.  One goes long, and it's a major international incident!  One explosive bolt fails, and guess what happens!

If China doesn't like the random possibility of getting nuked, then they should collar the little bastard before we have to kick his ass.

With the last war ending in a stalemate, sending troops there wouldn't be wise, IMO.. With the shitty ROE, it would likely have similar results as Iraq and Afghanistan. But then again, the majority would be a unifored enemy. Hard to say how it would play out.

The big problem with just nuking that little shit to glass and then washing his ass with Windex is that even with all small tactical nukes using air bursts ... SOME fallout will ... fall on Japan. Can't have that. We are still kissing Jap Lands ass for forgiveness from us nuking them way back in 1945 at the end of WW2. Forget Chinas reaction, they are probably in bed with the little shit. Jap Land is the problem. Trade parter, guilt trip, etc.. Nukes will never happen. But ... other stuff? Hee hee hee. But then again we have the White House. HB of CJ (old coot)

Who in the HELL needs nukes to bring down NK?  China would love to get rid of little Kim - if we promised 50% of the reconstruction to China they would most likely jump on the chance to take him out with a joint US,China SK coalition.  China NEEDS a rail road and pipelines to SK ports. As long as there is a Kim in the woodpile that will never happen.

Kimmy's got around 62 heavy artillery pieces per mile of border.  Nothing can advance against that!  2 volleys with 30 guns can completely cover a grid square.  Those guns could destroy everything within 20 miles of the border, and then they begin to leapfrog.  You need massive accurate counterbattery fire within the opening minutes of hostilities.  His missile forces are another cause for concern.  He'll probably use what nukes he has on both Japan and the US in both EMP and ground attack roles.  He also has chemical capability.  Either chemical or nuke strikes would unleash a nuclear response from the US.

I don't know what Kimmy's latest tank is, but if they're still using the 105mm Russian guns, they won't scratch the M1's.  I don't know if Kimmy has the new ECM pod that Russia has, cause that will shut down an Ageis boat real fast.  We learned the hard way about that in the Black Sea recently.  Left the boat completely defenseless.

The NOK's are starving!  Starvation can be one hell of a motivator!

Artillery is a fixed (in place) asset. So we go 30 miles BEHIND the lines and destroy resupply lines. An army runs on it's belly - NK has plenty ammo. NK has damn little FOOD! They have even less oil. Bomb their oil, bomb their food. Bomb Kim.

NK is the big mouth bully that is 4'2" but has a couple 6'7" brothers. His brothers are damn tired of backing up his bullshit. China is tired as fuck with their bullshit, and Putin is gonna need to offer a plum to get back into the good graces of the USA.

An advanced Russian plane flew over one of our ships and employed some sort of jammer that disabled the ships electronics.

It was an SU-24 with a new ECM pod.  Made a dozen attack runs over the ship.  Everything went down. Com, radar, missile defense (phalnax), missile guidance, everything!  The sailors were so demoralized that a number are leaving the service.  Posted a link in a thread a few weeks back.

Should have kept those signal inteligence trawlers at a further distance!  They analized the signals and found an exploitable weakness that takes the whole ship down.

Couldn't take the Missouri or the Wisconsin down though.  They still used an electro-mechanical computer for fire control.  Guess it's time to put them back in service.

Here's the artical I posted.

"The State Department acknowledged that the crew of the destroyer USS Donald Cook has been gravely demoralized..."

That's funny. I wonder if Putin himself wrote that article.

some how I have a lot of trouble buying that an ECM pod small enough to be carried on a fighter sized aircraft knocked out basically all the fire control electronics on a relatively new warship.

crew might have just been pissed they got buzzed and had to just sit there and take it.

NK is probably 100% dependent on the last big commie neighbor in the area, China. I bet most of this crap comes out of China, because making fun of corrupt, inept commie leaders ... well, that's basically making fun of China and its politbureau ... which is alive and well and is "invisible" because it's not PC to say that US/ Walmart is so dependent on beads and mirrors from a commie country.

Don't be quick to invade NK. There is very little nothing that you can take away from those people to actually scare them and they have been brainwashed since in utero. Expect pacific campaign replayed all over again.

I built a version of Tesla's magnifying transmitter.  It knocked out pretty much all RF bands in a 5 mile radius.  That coil was much smaller than a ECM pod, but took a 20 KW AM radio station off air that was about a mile away.

This coil can knock out the engine of a Ford Focus at 200'.

Most digital systems don't like noise.  Anything that can make noise that looks like a logic transition will cause gates to switch, which in turn causes undesired operation.  The Aegis system has been out since Gulf War I.  So there's been plenty of time to gather data on the electronic emissions from the system.  If the Russians figured out how to mess with those emissions, then yes, they could jam the ships.  They certainly been chasing our fleets with signal intelligence trawlers for years.

Funny how so many think that this tech is "light years" away, and that we would be the only ones to harness it. It really isnt surprising that "they" can come up with such tech. Funny how the world thinks that we are the leading edge in tech. We are far from it. We rank into the lat 20's when it comes to that.

An Iowa class battlewagon could STILL be a force to inspire FEAR. Bring 'em out!

We've already gave more than 50% reconstruction to China! Have you seen Shanghai from mid eighties to now...........

Be real

the ecm story is pure BS

Embellished with sailors SO upset they are leaving the service..........

There are hundreds of DISASSOCIATED systems involved only a fool could claim ALL the systems went down .

As far as the old battleships....16" guns would still speak with authority today.

And a peninsula would be the perfect place to use them with great effect.

Its plain stupid not to maintain some of our (obsolete) equipment

yep if it knocked out some stuff, why didn't it knock out everything, would have left the ship dead in the water with no propulsion, communication, navigation systems, or anything that wasn't just battery powered like a flashlight.

seems like a Russian boogeyman story

Don't forget...the Iowa class was last upgraded in the 1980s, so they're modern enough to be good to go. Almost NOTHING today will be able to punch through her armor.

Recommission them. Swap out the old oil fired boilers with reactors. Use the bunker fuel storage as a refueling tanker for the destroyers, etc.

From the wiki:

When reactivated and modernized in the 1980s each battleship retained the original battery of nine 16-inch (406 mm) guns, but the secondary battery on each battleship was reduced from ten twin-gun mounts and twenty guns to six twin-gun mounts with 12 guns to allow for the installation of two platforms for the 32 Tomahawk missiles. Each battleship also received four four- missile Harpoon missile magazinesPhalanx anti-aircraft/anti-missile Gatling gun systems, and electronic warfare suites.

USS Donald Cook is supposed to re-enter the Black Sea today. That would be hard to do if the crew resigned in April.

I disagree that a 70 year old ship is our best option in a modern naval battle with Russians. Look at some of their supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles. A Battleship would never get close enough to the target to use those big guns.

Any ship in our inventory would be a sitting duck in the Black Sea in a real throw down. This is a Freedom of Navigation patrol in accordance with International law. We do them all the time all over the globe to show we can go wherever we want--outside the 12 mile territorial limits, that is.
