sjgusmc21 850
I have spent many Christmas's away from home and loved ones. It sucks, but the camaraderie got us by. We had a Christmas tree in the squad bay once...God almighty the shit we decorated that tree with was amazing...but it was our tree. God bless them all and Semper Fi!
XD45 7,124
In the Corps I spent 6 Christmases away from home. You get by of course. But it's still a day when you think about home a lot.
patriot 7,197
I just spoke with some of our USCG people on a business trip to a few of their cutters. They're not sour about doing their duty, but of course they wish they were home. I made sure to wish each of them a Merry Christmas, and thank them. They were a nice bunch of people, giving up a LOT for us. Of course, a tropical Christmas might be nice for the few hours they have off each day. I hope they have some good times. They all deserve it.
thebuns1 4,323
Yeah, many people dont realize how much you miss out on when your in the service. Its really not a huge deal, but everyone thinks about home on certain days of the year.
patriot 7,197
Especially if you live in the barracks. You're pretty much guaranteed holiday duty.
