THE NEW GUY 113
My wally worlds are full of zq1 ammo for 9.97 a box .10.60 for 20 rounds of 147gr m 80 ball . I was wondering if any of you have tried this stuff as I have a new 308 Saiga and she is a hungry bitch I know she is an ammo slut as she has run everthing I put thru her. It comes out to 53 cents a round which is the same price as Tula and there is a boatload of it on the shelves nobody is buying it . My question is have you used this in your Saiga and have you tried it in bolt actions ? I love Hornady but cant afford to stock 2000 rounds to have something to shoot. Your imput please! Deadeye 325
It runs good in my s308. Brass is reload able I think. It seems pretty good to go

Spacehog 2,218
Great ammo and reloadable brass. Word is out around Birmingham. Some guy (Yes one guy) is going around buying all of it off the shelves, and it is being discontinued by Walmart. Get it at .49/rd while you can.
JESS1344 508
SPACEHOG, IF IT'S THAT GOOD, WHY WOULD W-MART DISCONTINUE IT? JESS1344
JESS1344 508
GUYS, JUST SHOT ZQ AN EMAIL, ON THEIR W-SITE, ASKING WHETHER THE RUMOUR OF THEIR BEING DISCONTINUED BY W-MART IS TRUE. I'LL RPT. BACK WHEN I HEAR SOMETHING. JESS1344
Spacehog 2,218
From my understanding, they are replacing it with the Perfecta stuff for twice the price. I will be interested to hear the response. The ZQ1 has been on clearance at every Walmart I have been to in central/northern AL. Possibly the discontinuation is a regional thing, but that is not normally how Walmart works.
VR762Shooter 838
Local Walmarts to me have had it on the reduced 9.95 price point but have still been receiving stock. I noticed they got in a new round for Wally World, the Tula 7.62x54R. Picked up a few boxes and that is now no longer listed to shelves, so they may be doing some experimentation regionally for different brands and calibers. No idea though, guess we will know more when Jess hears back from ZQ1

horatio 515
Haven't shot it and I'm not generally a big fan of foreign ammo (outside if Russian) but I may spend a few dollars on this. Had some Turkish ammo a few years ago that shot okay. Maybe ill check out my local wallyworld
THE NEW GUY 113
I bought 3 boxes they ran well . I went back and bought 35 more . I went to another Walmart about 5 miles away and they must have had 50 boxes on the shelf . I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING USING MY INTEREST FREE CC. Its the same price as Tula and nobody here is buyin it .
JESS1344 508
GUYS, BOUGHT 2 BOXES AT MY LOCAL WAL-MART ON 01-04-15, @ $9.97 X 20 EA. ASKED ON DUTY CLERK IF SHE'D HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT AMMO BEING DISCONTINUED, SHE SAID "NO". WENT BACK IN YESTERDAY, 01-06-15, ON THE DAY SHIFT AND INQUIRED WITH DAY SHIFT CLERK, AND HE SAID THAT HE COULDN'T SPEAK FOR ALL WAL-MART STORES, BUT THAT THIS STORE COULD NO LONGER ORDER IT. I SAY THAT IF WAL-MART DROPS THIS AMMO, PARTICULARLY IF FOR SOMETHING ELSE, HIGHER PRICED, AS CITED ABOVE, THAT WE SMOKE WAL-MART H.Q. WITH (POLITE, BUT FIRM) PROTEST LETTERS. FYI, STATES ON BOX SIDES "THIS HIGH QUALITY AMMUNITION IS MADE TO NATO SPECIFICATIONS AND LOT TESTED TO ASSURE LESS THAN ONE MINUTE OF ANGLE AT 100 METERS". ON TOP OF BOX, STATES "NATO STANAG 2310". NO REPLY AS YET FROM ZQI. JESS1344
Spacehog 2,218
My business takes me all over AL on a daily basis, I have not been able to find it since before Thanksgiving in a 150 mile radius from Birmingham. I hope they do continue to carry it because it is high quality ammo at plinking ammo pricing, and the brass reloads quite well. If I were the NEW GUY, I would buy all of it I could afford. THE NEW GUY 113
I have come up with a new way to save a little more money. I put an d on craigslist to buy wally world gift cards for 70 cents on the dollar. I picked up a 200.00 card today for 140.00 . I make them buy the ammo to make sure the card works , . I pay the tax it comes to 212.00 with tax . I have a 152.00 in 400 rounds of ammo which comes out to 38 cents a round. a word of warning find out what the pawnshops in your area are paying and offer a little bit more its after Christmas and there a lot of gift cards available . FYI it works the same for gas too. P.S. MAKE SURE U MAKE THEM GO THRU THE LINE SO U DONT BUY A CARD WITH A SECURITY HOLD ON IT . THERE ARE A LOT OF SCAMMERS BUT USUALLY IF THEY GO THRU THE LINE YOU DONT GET BEAT.
csspecs 1,987
Well I just got 25 boxes at my local wally world.. $265.46 out the door with taxes. Wolf is running $225 plus shipping from most suppliers, so I'm grabbing another 25 in a couple days.
VR762Shooter 838
Just the fact you can reload it is great. At the current price point its the best time to stock up. I informed my wife this is the ammo to buy if she sees it in wally. Considering it is about $1 more than the Tula steel case, why wouldn't you grab it up
Spacehog 2,218
I found six boxes today during my travels today. If they had 50 boxes, I would have bought them all on the spot. Edited January 10, 2015 by Spacehog

gta_spec 2
ZQ1 finally posted prices online for this. Its $0.70 / round. ( free shipping in an ammo can) Get it from Walmart while you can.
Spacehog 2,218
I found out some interesting information from Walmart on this ammo. It is on a trial run to determine how well it sells. I also learned that not all Walmarts are putting it out on the shelves because as a trial product is does not necessarily have a place to stock. The Walmart 5 miles from me actually had 20 boxes out of sight behind the counter. I was picking up 9 boxes of Tul for my .308 AK, and inquired about the ZQ and he pulls 20 boxes hidden behind the counter and says it is not selling. (Wonder why) Point is you may want to specifically ask for it. They may have it but not in view, and it may become a permanent offering. I am happy this morning! horatio 515
Originally I said no way to foreign ammo ( outside of Russian) but I'm reconsidering. Mostly because in my Christmas grab bag I got some crappy pots and pans set from Walmart. ( I had asked for a wustoph trident 5" chef knife). Ill have a 100 bucks to spend on ammo and last time I was at Walmart they must have had a hundred boxes. Took up almost the whole shelf.

So you buy the card from a stranger on craigslist and then make them go with you to the store and make the purchase? Must be some awfully compliant people with gift cards to sell at a loss in your area. Can't you call the number on the card and do a balance inquiry anyways? Just curious because if someone demanded I go buy ammo with purchased card (especially a stranger off craigslist) I would likely have some not so nice words for them as I politely escorted them off of my property. Sneak 81
My local WM had 6 boxes I picked up today. They also had a bunch of ZQ1 in 5.56 (30 for $10). I don't think it's as great of a deal, I could be wrong. Any downside to this? Been thinking of moving into a 5.56 rifle. Sorry, not trying to hijack.
Spacehog 2,218
Sorry Sneak, I can't comment on the ZQI 5.56, I haven't used it. Anything brass that shoots well and is around 30-35 cents is a good deal in my opinion.
THE NEW GUY 113
tundra 1 I HAVE THEM MEET ME AT WALMART I TAKE THE CARD PURCHASE THE AMMO THEN IF THE CARD WORKS [ WHICH IT USUALLY DOES IF THE ARE WILLING TO COME IN THE STORE]. IF THEY ARE SHADY THEY WILL CALL THE CARD IN AS LOST OR STOLEN AFTER THEY SELL YOU THE CARD. I MEAN AS SOON AS THEY SELL IT TO YOU . IF YOU CALL THE CARD IN AND IT GIVES YOU A BALANCE THE CARD IS GOOD USUALLY IF THE BACK HAS NOT BEEN SCRATCHED OFF, YOU HAVE TO SCRATCH THE BACK OFF FOR THE PIN NUMBER TO GET THE BALANCE . IF THEY HAVE ALL THE INFO WRITTEN DOWN ON THE CARD THEN THEY CAN CALL IT IN AND GET A NEW CARD AND U GET THE SHAFT . I BUY A LOT OF GIFT CARDS AND BEEN BURNT A COUPLE OF TIMES . DO NOT TAKE THEM TO REGISTER TO GET THEM CHECKED THEY CAN TELL YOU THE BALANCE BUT THE CARD CAN HAVE A SECURITY HOLD ON IT AND U CANT USE IT . MAKE THEM STAND BESIDE YOU WHILE YOU USE THE CARD AND THEN PAY THEM FOR IT AFTER IT WORKS . I USE IT FOR AMMO , GAS AND GROCERIES . P. S. IF THE BACK HASN'T BEEN SCRATCHED OFF AND THEY GIVE YOU THE RECIEPT THE CARD IS USUALLY GOOD . IT IS NICE TO SAVE 25 TO 30 % ON GAS AND AMMO . A LOT OF COLLEGE KIDS GET GIFT CARDS AND THEY WANT THE CASH ! CALL A COUPLE OF PAWNSHOPS IN YOUR AREA TELL THEM YOU HAVE A 100.00 WALMART CARD AND SEE WHAT THEY PAY THEN PLACE YOUR ADD AND PLAY MORE . PUT IN YOUR AD THEY WILL HAVE TO GO THRU THE LINE TO MAKE A PURCHASE TO PROVE THE CARD WORKS . THEY WILL RING YOUR PHONE OFF THE HOOK !! THIS HAS WORKED VERY WELL FOR ME AS I HAVE BOUGHT CARDS FOR 300.00 AND THE COST ME 210.00 I DONT BUY CARDS THAT DON'T HAVE AT LEAST 100.00 ON THEM AS MY CLOSET WALMART IS 10 MILES AWAY . A100.00 CARD BUYS 10 BOXES OF ZQ1 WITH TAX IT COMES TO 106.00 WITH TAX I PAY THE TAX AND PAY THEM 70.00 SO IN 10 BOXES I HAVE 200 ROUNDS AT THAT PRICE I HAVE 38 CENTS A ROUND IN IT , BUT THAT DOESN'T COUNT MY GAS , IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF COLLEGE KIDS WANT THE CASH TO GO BAR HOPPIN . THATS WHAT THEY TELL ME . GIVE IT A TRY U ONLY GET YOUNG PEOPLE OLD PEOPLE LIKE ME ACTUALLY USE THE CARDS . I RECOMEND YOU GIVE IT A TRY U JUST MIGHT LIKE SAVIN 20 TO 30 % Edited January 11, 2015 by THE NEW GUY

horatio 515
I know the Walmart I buy ammo from has a ton of it. I bought a few boxes last time I was there. Haven't shot it but it does look pretty good. Oh, and yes, as far as I know every Walmart in cook county and the two surrounding counties do not carry guns. My local Walmart does not even sell ammo, I go to the one about 12 miles away by my sisters house. The funniest part? The Walmart by my dad, deep in cook county, sells tulammo x39 and assorted 556.... Edited January 31, 2015 by fatty alcohol
