saltydecimator 482
had traded for a 1100 recently. wasnt runnin birdshot. recoil spring was shorter than spec (15ish inches). didnt replace it, but found a link to mx that folks claim is good for em. anyone see this and give it any validity? http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=113015
patriot 7,197
Get a new spring from Brownell's. It's only $5.
{ROS}_me 32
Might want to check the gas port/ports on the barrel ,I have an older magnum 1100 that has just 1 port .It will not eject low brass/velocity shells . me
Tony Baggadonuts 1
Like ROS said, I believe the older 1100s had trouble cycling birdshot, especially in shorter barreled versions. My father in law has an older one with this problem - yet my newer 18" barreled one cycles low brass flawlessly.
saltydecimator 482
gotcha, ya was gonna get one from midway (action spring ) but they were oos, almost bought the carrier assy too, but it was oos the week before that... this one almost cycled low brass, but was a conversion, so the ports were probably too small
magsite20 1,664
gas ring is the most common cause of failures in an 1100 but it could be ports
