G O B 3,516
Only Saiga sporters are imported. To get the rifle pictured you need to convert one, or buy one converted from Tromix. Read the FAQ's section and find out how to make your own! G O B
Stuart2 0
So you are saying that not even the saiga with thumbhole stock is not imported? example this photo is the one thanks Stu P.S When you get a gunsmith involved, the price is very very high
ironhead7544 35
According to Gunsmoke in FL, we should be able to buy factory Dragonov stocks very soon. Saw it in his catalog. Looks good.
stokstad 4
So you are saying that not even the saiga with thumbhole stock is not imported? example this photo is the one thanks Stu P.S When you get a gunsmith involved, the price is very very high If you look at that picture you will notice that the trigger is in the normal AK position, Not the sporter position ours come in. So if you want that stock you will have to convert it. The conversion process is not difficult all you need is a drill and a dremel and basic mechanical ability. No need to pay a smith to do it. Cobra 76 two 2,677
Hi Stu' Please go to the section labled FAQ in the shotguns forum. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=2042 Also check out the "tech section" in the "Guestbook" forum. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=8856 There you will find answers to all your questions and some you didn't know you had. Spend a little while there and you will learn a lot. Then if you have any further questions feel free to ask. No stupid questions, only stupid people who are afraid to ask. You need to purchase a new US made FCG. Most of us use the Tapco G-2. It comes in single and double hook. Get the single hook and it will drop right in with only slight modification. kresk 10,063
Hi Guys With this conversion to put the trigger forward, Do we need to purchase a special hammer, disconnector & trigger for this saiga? or Can I use the same Trigger, Hammer & Disconnector????? thanks Stu needs help Most folks replace the FCG with a US-made one, for 922r compliance (counts as 3 US parts) and better quality, often the Tapco G2 single hook trigger group which is readily available. There are other US made FCG's also.
Stuart2 0
Hi Guy What I'm trying to workout, is the reasons why you are changing the trigger, hammer ect because the law within american states that you must follow the 922r compliance ? Do you agree with this statement below You need to change the parts to ( AK G2 Single Hook Trigger Group ) to make this saiga rifle work? thanks Stuart
Cobra 76 two 2,677
OK I gotcha. If you are not in the US and don't have to comply with 922R then yes you can probably use your Saiga hammer but I would not want to mix parts in an FCG. The problem is with the factory Saiga trigger there is a separate part or two that a normal AK trigger does not have. Unlike a normal AK trigger where the trigger itself is part of the hook that catches the hammer and holds the disconnector, the Saiga trigger is on a separate axis and is connected to the rest of the assy. by a transfer bar that looks like a wishbone or fork. So you would still need to buy a regular trigger because the one in your saiga looks like a regular one that has had the actual trigger cut off the bottom. If you want a drag stock then you have to do the same conversion as you would to just put a PG on there. If you are not worried about compliance you could get a regular AK FCG cheaper than a Tapco G-2 or FSE, etc but you should get a complete FCG of some kind. The G-2 is a very nice improvement over the regular AK FCG. It has a smooth light pull, breaks crisp, and you wont have to worry about the trigger slap that comes with some AK FCGs. It also has a convenient sleeve that keeps the trigger, disconnector, and spring asembled as one unit so it's easy to take out and put back in.
