justplaint 2
Hello, I purchased and used a Duracoat "can in a can" aerosol to repaint my Saiga 12 shotgun. When I attempt to reassemble it though, the gas regulator (a non-coated item) will not thread back in. It goes perhaps the first full turn and then hangs up badly. I don't see anything obviously impeding it. Any thoughts what went wrong and how to fix?
Spacehog 2,218
Did you spray duracoat in the gas block or on the internal threads? If you did that is likely your problem. Duracoat builds a lot of film thickness. It will also affect the movement of the gas puck. Use acetone or other stripper to remove any duracoat from the internal threads and the interior of the gas block. If you sprayed the inside of the receiver, I would suggest removing any duracoat from the carrier rails as well.

G O B 3,516
Now put some anti-seeze on those blind plug threads.
